Hadith 1111

Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him), who participated in the Battle of Badr and was one of the (twelve) leaders at the night of Aqabah, narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, while a group of his companions was sitting around him, "Pledge allegiance to me on the condition that you will not associate anything with Allah, will not steal, will not commit adultery, will not kill your children, will not slander anyone intentionally and falsely, and will not disobey (Allah) in any good matter." Whoever among you fulfills this covenant, his reward is with Allah. And whoever commits any of these (evil deeds) and is punished for it in this world (according to Islamic law), then that punishment will be an expiation for his (sins). And whoever becomes involved in any of these matters and Allah conceals his (sin), then his (case) is with Allah; if He wills, He will forgive him, and if He wills, He will punish him. (Ubadah says) Then we all pledged allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on all these matters.
