Hadith 111

Masruq (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated that I asked Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "O mother of the believers, did Muhammad (peace be upon him) see his Lord on the night of Mi'raj?" Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "You have said something at which my hair has stood on end. Are you unaware of these three things? Whoever among you narrates to you any of these three things is a liar: Whoever says that Muhammad (peace be upon him) saw his Lord on the night of Mi'raj is a liar." Then she recited these blessed verses: ' Eyes cannot perceive Him, but He perceives all eyes. He is the Subtle, the All-Aware.' (Al-An'am 103) ' It is not possible for any human that Allah should speak to him except by revelation or from behind a veil.' (Ash-Shura 51) "And whoever tells you that the Prophet (peace be upon him) knew what would happen tomorrow is also a liar." For this, she recited the verse: ' No soul knows what it will earn tomorrow.' (Luqman 34) "And whoever among you says that the Prophet (peace be upon him) concealed anything in the propagation of religion is also a liar." Then she recited this verse: ' O Messenger, convey everything that has been sent down to you from your Lord. If you do not do so, then you have not conveyed His message.' (Al-Ma'idah 67) "Yes, the Prophet (peace be upon him) saw Jibreel (peace be upon him) in his original form twice." (From this detail, it is preferred that he did not see Allah with his eyes on the night of Mi'raj. And Allah knows best.)
