Shaibani says that I asked Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him), "Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ever stone anyone?" He said, "Yes." I asked, "Was it before or after Surah An-Nur?" He said, "I do not know."

Brief Explanation
The descent of Surah An-Nur refers to the statement of Allah Ta'ala: "The woman and the man guilty of fornication, flog each of them with a hundred stripes." It has been established through evidences that the occurrence of stoning (rajm) took place even after the revelation of Surah An-Nur, because its reason for revelation is the incident of Ifk, which occurred in the fourth, fifth, or sixth year of Hijrah, whereas stoning was carried out even after that. In the incident of stoning, Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu was present, who accepted Islam in the seventh year of Hijrah, and Ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhuma also narrates the stoning, and he came to Madinah with his mother in the ninth year of Hijrah.
