1071 صحيح حديث عَبْدِ الرَّحْمنِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : يَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمنِ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ لاَ تَسْأَلِ الإِمَارَةَ، فَإِنَّكَ إِنْ أُوتِيْتَهَا عَنْ مَسْئَلَةٍ وكِلْتَ إِلَيْهَا، وَإِنْ أُوتِيْتَهَا مِنْ غَيْرِ مَسْئَلَةٍ أُعِنْتَ عَلَيْهَا، وَإِذَا حَلَفْتَ عَلَى يَمِينٍ فَرَأَيْتَ غَيْرَهَا خَيْرًا مِنْهَا فَكَفِّرْ عَنْ يَمِينِكَ وَأْتِ الَّذِي هُوَ خَيْرٌ
Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: O Abdur Rahman bin Samurah! Never ask for a position of authority, because if it is given to you after you have asked for it, Allah the Exalted will withdraw His help from you. But if it is given to you without your asking, then you will be helped by Allah in it. And when you take an oath and then see something else better than it, then offer expiation for your oath and do that which is better.
