Hadith 1054

1054 صحيح حديث ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: لَوْ غَضَّ النَّاسُ إِلَى الرُّبُعِ؛ لأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ: الثُّلُثُ، وَالثُّلُثُ كَثِيرٌ أَوْ كَبِيرٌ
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated: I wish people would reduce (the bequest) to a quarter, that would be better, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said that you may bequeath a third, and a third is much, or (he said) it is a large amount.
