Hazrat Saeed bin Zaid bin Amr bin Nufail (may Allah be pleased with him) had a dispute with Arwa bint Abi Aws regarding a (piece of) land. Arwa claimed that Saeed had seized her land. This case went to Marwan, the governor of Madinah, for judgment. Saeed (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Would I usurp her right? I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever unjustly seizes even a handspan of land, a collar of seven earths will be placed around his neck on the Day of Resurrection."

Brief Explanation
Hadith Narrator: ... Hazrat Sa'id bin Zayd bin Amr bin Nufayl radi Allahu anhu is among the ‘Asharah Mubashsharah (the ten companions given glad tidings of Paradise). He accepted Islam in the very beginning. He could not participate in the Battle of Badr because the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had sent him to Syria, however, he did share in the spoils of war. He became Muslim before the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam entered Dar al-Arqam. He participated in the conquest of Yarmouk and Damascus. He narrated 48 ahadith, of which two are agreed upon (muttafaqun alayh). He passed away at the age of 73 at the place of ‘Atiq and was buried in Madinah. Hazrat Mughirah bin Shu’bah radi Allahu anhu led his funeral prayer. Hazrat Sa'id radi Allahu anhu relinquished his right for Arwa and supplicated against her, saying: “O Allah! If she is lying, then make her blind and make her house her grave.” Allah Ta’ala accepted his supplication. She became blind and, as she was passing by the well in her house, she fell into it. Thus, that well became her grave. (Compiled)
