Hazrat Hudhaifah bin Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The angels came to the soul of a man from the previous nations (at the time of his death) and asked, "Have you done any good deeds?" The soul replied, "I used to tell my servants to give respite to wealthy people (who were in debt to them) and not to be harsh with them, and to forgive the needy." The narrator stated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then the angels also overlooked him and did not treat him harshly.
