Description of its trees, its rows, and its rivers
Hadith 13276
عَنْ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ عَبْدٍ السُّلَمِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنِ الْحَوْضِ وَذَكَرَ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ قَالَ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ: فِيهَا فَاكِهَةٌ؟ قَالَ: ”نَعَمْ وَفِيهَا شَجَرَةٌ تُدْعَى طُوبَى“ فَذَكَرَ شَيْئًا لَا أَدْرِي مَا هُوَ قَالَ: أَيُّ شَجَرِ أَرْضِنَا تُشْبِهُ؟ قَالَ: ”لَيْسَتْ تُشْبِهُ شَيْئًا مِنْ شَجَرِ أَرْضِكَ“ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”أَتَيْتَ الشَّامَ؟“ فَقَالَ: لَا قَالَ: ”تُشْبِهُ شَجَرَةً بِالشَّامِ تُدْعَى الْجَوْزَةَ تَنْبُتُ عَلَى سَاقٍ وَاحِدٍ يَنْفَرِشُ أَعْلَاهَا“ قَالَ: مَا عِظَمُ أَصْلِهَا؟ قَالَ: ”لَوِ ارْتَحَلَتْ جَذْعَةٌ مِنْ إِبِلِ أَهْلِكَ مَا أَحَاطَتْ بِأَصْلِهَا حَتَّى تَنْكَسِرَ تَرْقُوَتُهَا هَرِمًا“ قَالَ: فِيهَا عِنَبٌ؟ قَالَ: ”نَعَمْ“ قَالَ: فَمَا عِظَمُ الْعُنْقُودِ؟ قَالَ: ”مَسِيرَةُ شَهْرٍ لِلْغُرَابِ الْأَبْقَعِ وَلَا يَفْتُرُ“ قَالَ: فَمَا عِظَمُ الْحَبَّةِ؟ قَالَ: ”هَلْ ذَبَحَ أَبُوكَ تَيْسًا مِنْ غَنَمِهِ قَطُّ عَظِيمًا؟“ قَالَ: نَعَمْ قَالَ: ”فَسَلَخَ إِهَابَهُ فَأَعْطَاهُ أُمَّكَ قَالَ: اتَّخِذِي لَنَا مِنْهُ دَلْوًا؟“ قَالَ: نَعَمْ قَالَ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ: فَإِنَّ تِلْكَ الْحَبَّةَ لَتُشْبِعُنِي وَأَهْلَ بَيْتِي قَالَ: ”نَعَمْ وَعَامَّةَ عَشِيرَتِكَ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Utbah bin Abdus Salmi (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Bedouin came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked about the Pond and mentioned Paradise. Then the Bedouin asked: Will there be fruits in Paradise? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes, there will be a tree called Tuba. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned something else which I do not remember. He asked: Which tree on this earth is that tree similar to? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is not like any tree on this earth. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: Have you ever been to the region of Syria? He said: No. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In Syria, there is a tree called Jauzah, it grows on a single trunk, but as it goes up, it spreads out. The Bedouin asked: How big is its trunk? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If a young camel from among your camels starts circling around its trunk, it will become old and die while circling, but it will not be able to complete the circle around the trunk of that tree. He asked: Will there be grapes there? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes. He asked: How big will a bunch of grapes be? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If a white crow flies continuously for a month without any pause, it will not reach the other end of it. He asked: How big will a single grain of the crops there be? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Has your father ever slaughtered a big goat from among the herd of goats? He said: Yes. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then did he skin it and give the skin to your mother so that she could make a bucket out of it? (Just consider this as an example of the grain.) He said: Yes. The Bedouin said: Then a single grain of the crop will be enough for me and my family? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes, indeed, rather it will be enough for the common people of your family as well.
Hadith 13277
وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ لَهُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ طُوبَى لِمَنْ رَآكَ وَآمَنَ بِكَ قَالَ: ”طُوبَى لِمَنْ رَآنِي وَآمَنَ بِي ثُمَّ طُوبَى ثُمَّ طُوبَى ثُمَّ طُوبَى لِمَنْ آمَنَ وَلَمْ يَرَنِي“ قَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ: وَمَا طُوبَى؟ قَالَ: ”شَجَرَةٌ فِي الْجَنَّةِ مَسِيرَةُ مِائَةِ عَامٍ ثِيَابُ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ تَخْرُجُ مِنْ أَكْمَامِهَا“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! Glad tidings (Tuba) are for those people who saw you and believed in you. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes, indeed, glad tidings are for those who saw me and believed in me, but glad tidings, glad tidings, glad tidings are for those who believed in me without seeing me. That man asked: What is Tuba? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is the name of a tree in Paradise, and it is as vast as a hundred years’ journey. The garments of the people of Paradise are made from the sheaths of its buds.
Hadith 13278
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”إِنَّ فِي الْجَنَّةِ لَشَجَرَةً يَسِيرُ الرَّاكِبُ الْجَوَّادُ فِي ظِلِّهَا مِائَةَ سَنَةٍ وَإِنَّ وَرَقَهَا لَيَخْمُرُ الْجَنَّةَ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: In Paradise, there is a tree under whose shade a swift horse rider can travel for a hundred years, and one of its leaves covers an entire garden.
Hadith 13279
وَلَهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ آخَرَ بِنَحْوِهِ وَزَادَ فَاقْرَأُوا إِنْ شِئْتُمْ {وَظِلٍّ مَمْدُودٍ} قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”وَمَوْضِعُ سَوْطِ أَحَدِكُمْ فِي الْجَنَّةِ خَيْرٌ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا وَمَا فِيهَا“ وَقَرَأَ {فَمَنْ زُحْزِحَ عَنِ النَّارِ وَأُدْخِلَ الْجَنَّةَ فَقَدْ فَازَ وَمَا الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا مَتَاعُ الْغُرُورِ}
(Second chain of narration) There is an addition in this: If you wish, recite this verse: {وَّظِلٍّ مَّمْدُوْد} (And they will be in extended shade) (Surah Al-Waqi’ah: 30). The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: In Paradise, a place equal to the length of your staff is better than the world and whatever is in it. Then he, peace and blessings be upon him, recited this verse: {فَمَنْ زُحْزِحَ عَنِ النَّارِ وَ اُدْخِلَ الْجَنَّۃَ فَقَدْ فَازَ وَ مَا الْحَیٰوۃُ الدُّنْیَآ اِلَّا مَتَاعُ الْغُرُوْرِ} (So whoever is saved from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he has indeed succeeded. And (remember that) the life of this world is nothing but the enjoyment of delusion.) (Surah Aal-e-Imran: 185)
Hadith 13280
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ”إِنَّ فِي الْجَنَّةِ شَجَرَةً يَسِيرُ الرَّاكِبُ فِي ظِلِّهَا سَبْعِينَ أَوْ مِائَةَ سَنَةٍ هِيَ شَجَرَةُ الْخُلْدِ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, said: In Paradise, there is a tree so large that a camel rider can travel in its shade for seventy or a hundred years; it is the Shajarat al-Khuld (the eternal tree).
Hadith 13281
وَعَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”إِنَّ طَيْرَ الْجَنَّةِ كَأَمْثَالِ الْبُخْتِ تَرْعَى فِي شَجَرِ الْجَنَّةِ“ فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ هَذِهِ لَطَيْرٌ نَاعِمَةٌ فَقَالَ ”أَكَلَتُهَا أَنْعَمُ مِنْهَا قَالَهَا ثَلَاثًا وَإِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ تَكُونَ مِمَّنْ يَأْكُلُ مِنْهَا يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The birds of Paradise will be like Bactrian camels; they will fly and graze in Paradise. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, said: O Messenger of Allah! Those birds will be very excellent. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said three times: Those who eat them will be even better and more virtuous than them, and Abu Bakr! I hope that you will be among those who eat them.
Hadith 13282
وَعَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ حَيْدَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ ”فِي الْجَنَّةِ بَحْرُ اللَّبَنِ وَبَحْرُ الْمَاءِ وَبَحْرُ الْعَسَلِ وَبَحْرُ الْخَمْرِ ثُمَّ تَشَقَّقُ الْأَنْهَارُ مِنْهَا بَعْدَهُ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Haydah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: In Paradise, there will be a sea of milk, a sea of water, a sea of honey, and a sea of wine, and from them rivers will be flowing.
