كتاب النار والجنةThe Book of Hellfire and Paradise
طَعَامُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ وَشَرَابُهُمْ وَصِفَةٌ عَذَابِهِمْ وَتَفَاوُتُهُمْ فِي ذَلِكَ
The food and drink of the people of the Fire, the description of their punishment, and their varying degrees in that
Hadith 13229
عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ أَنَّ النَّاسَ كَانُوا يَطُوفُونَ بِالْبَيْتِ وَابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ جَالِسٌ مَعَهُ مِحْجَنٌ فَقَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”{يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ وَلَا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنْتُمْ مُسْلِمُونَ} لَوْ أَنَّ قَطْرَةً مِنَ الزَّقُّومِ قُطِرَتْ لَأَمَرَّتْ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ عَيْشَهُمْ كَيْفَ مَنْ لَيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا الزَّقُّومُ“
It is narrated from Mujahid that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) was sitting with a curved staff in his hand, while people were performing Tawaf of the House of Allah. He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: {یٰـــٓـــاَیُّھَا الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللّٰہَ حَقَّ تُقٰتِہٖ وَلَا تَمُوْتُنَّ اِلَّا وَاَنْتُمْ مُّسْلِمُوْنَ} (O you who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him].) (Surah Aal-e-Imran: 102) And if a single drop of the Zaqqoom of Hell were to fall upon the earth, it would make the lives of all the inhabitants of the earth bitter. (Just think,) what will be the condition of those whose food itself will be Zaqqoom.
Hadith 13230
وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”لَوْ أَنَّ دَلْوًا مِنْ غَسَّاقٍ أُهْرِقَ فِي الدُّنْيَا لَأَنْتَنَ أَهْلَ الدُّنْيَا“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If a bucket of pus from Hell were to be poured out into the world, it would make all the people of the world restless and foul-smelling due to its stench.
Hadith 13231
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ”إِنَّ الْحَمِيمَ لَيُصَبُّ عَلَى رُؤُوسِهِمْ فَيَنْفُذُ الْجُمْجُمَةَ حَتَّى يَخْلُصَ إِلَى جَوْفِهِ فَيَسْلُتُ مَا فِي جَوْفِهِ حَتَّى يَمْرُقَ مِنْ قَدَمَيْهِ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Boiling water from Hell will be poured over the heads of the inhabitants of Hell; it will pass through the inside of their skulls and reach their stomachs, then it will cut and burn the internal organs of their bellies and come out from beneath their feet.
Hadith 13232
وَعَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ النُّعْمَانَ بْنَ بَشِيرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَخْطُبُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ”إِنَّ أَهْوَنَ أَهْلِ النَّارِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ رَجُلٌ يُجْعَلُ فِي أَخْمَصِ قَدَمَيْهِ نَعْلَانِ مِنْ نَارٍ يَغْلِي مِنْهُمَا دِمَاغُهُ“
Sayyiduna Nu’man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) said in a sermon: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: The person with the least punishment in Hell will be the one who will have two sandals of fire put on his feet, due to the heat of which his brain will begin to boil.
Hadith 13233
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”أَهْوَنُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ عَذَابًا رَجُلٌ عَلَيْهِ نَعْلَانِ يَغْلِي مِنْهُمَا دِمَاغُهُ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, said: The person who will have the least and lightest punishment in Hell will be the one who will be made to wear shoes of fire, and because of them his brain will begin to boil.
Hadith 13234
وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ: ”أَهْوَنُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ عَذَابًا رَجُلٌ فِي رِجْلَيْهِ نَعْلَانِ يَغْلِي مِنْهُمَا دِمَاغُهُ وَمِنْهُمْ فِي النَّارِ إِلَى كَعْبَيْهِ مَعَ إِجْرَاءِ الْعَذَابِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ فِي النَّارِ إِلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ مَعَ إِجْرَاءِ الْعَذَابِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ هُوَ فِي النَّارِ إِلَى صَدْرِهِ مَعَ إِجْرَاءِ الْعَذَابِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ قَدِ اغْتُمِرَ فِي النَّارِ“ قَالَ عَفَّانٌ: أَحَدُ الرُّوَاةِ: ”مَعَ إِجْرَاءِ الْعَذَابِ قَدِ اغْتُمِرَ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The person among the inhabitants of Hell who will have the least punishment will be the one who will be made to wear shoes of fire, due to which his brain will start boiling. Some of the inhabitants of Hell will have fire up to their ankles and along with that, they will be given additional punishment. For some, the fire will reach up to their knees and along with that, they will be given more punishment. For some, the fire will reach up to their chest and along with that, they will be given further punishment. And there will be some who will be completely immersed in fire and along with that, they will be given even more punishment.
Hadith 13235
وَعَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ”إِنَّ مِنْهُمْ مَنْ تَأْخُذُهُ النَّارُ إِلَى كَعْبَيْهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ تَأْخُذُهُ النَّارُ إِلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ تَأْخُذُهُ النَّارُ إِلَى حُجْزَتِهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ تَأْخُذُهُ النَّارُ إِلَى تَرْقُوَتِهِ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him), the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: For some of the people of Hell, the fire will reach up to their ankles, for some up to their knees, for some up to their waists, and for some up to their chests.
Hadith 13236
وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ”يُنْصَبُ لِلْكَافِرِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مِقْدَارُ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ كَمَا لَمْ يَعْمَلْ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَإِنَّ الْكَافِرَ يَرَى جَهَنَّمَ وَيَظُنُّ أَنَّهَا مُوَاقِعَتُهُ مِنْ مَسِيرَةِ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةٍ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: For the disbeliever, a period of fifty thousand years will be fixed on the Day of Resurrection, as if he had not acted in the world, and the disbeliever will be seeing Hell and will be thinking that Hell will pull him towards itself even from a distance of forty years.
