التَّحْذِيرُ مِنَ النَّارِ
The warning against the Fire
Hadith 13217
عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ الطَّائِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”اتَّقُوا النَّارَ“ قَالَ شَاحَ بِوَجْهِهِ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ ”اتَّقُوا النَّارَ“ وَأَشَاحَ بِوَجْهِهِ قَالَ قَالَ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا ”اتَّقُوا النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشَقِّ تَمْرَةٍ فَإِنْ لَمْ تَجِدُوا فَبِكَلِمَةٍ طَيِّبَةٍ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim Ta’i (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Save yourselves from Hell. At the same time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) expressed displeasure on his face; it seemed to us as if he was seeing it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Create means to save yourselves from Hell. Again, he expressed displeasure on his face. This happened two or three times. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Save yourselves from Hell, even if it is with a piece of a date, and if someone does not have that, then with a good word.
Hadith 13218
وَعَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النُّعْمَانَ بْنَ بَشِيرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَخْطُبُ وَعَلَيْهِ خَمِيصَةٌ لَهُ فَقَالَ لَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ ”أَنْذَرْتُكُمُ النَّارَ“ فَلَوْ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مَوْضِعَ كَذَا وَكَذَا سَمِعَ صَوْتَهُ
Simak bin Harb says: I heard Sayyiduna Nu'man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) giving a sermon, and he had draped a sheet over himself. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say during a sermon: I have warned you about Hell. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said this in such a loud voice that if a person had been at such-and-such place, he would have heard it as well.
Hadith 13219
وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ آخَرَ بِنَحْوِهِ وَفِيهِ بَعْدَ قَوْلِهِ ”أَنْذَرْتُكُمُ النَّارَ“ قَالَ حَتَّى لَوْ أَنَّ رَجُلًا كَانَ بِالسُّوقِ لَسَمِعَهُ مِنْ مَقَامِي هَذَا قَالَ حَتَّى وَقَعَتْ خَمِيصَةٌ كَانَتْ عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ عِنْدَ رِجْلَيْهِ
. (Second chain) In this, after the statement of the Prophet (peace be upon him) "I have already warned you about Hell," he said: The words of the Prophet (peace be upon him) were so loud that if a man had been in the market, he would have heard that voice from my place. Samak says: Sayyiduna Nu'man (may Allah be pleased with him) also said this so loudly that his sheet fell from his shoulders down to his feet.
Hadith 13220
وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَالِثٍ بِنَحْوِهِ وَفِيهِ حَتَّى لَوْ كَانَ رَجُلٌ كَانَ فِي أَقْصَى السُّوقِ سَمِعَهُ وَسَمِعَ أَهْلُ السُّوقِ صَوْتَهُ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ
(Third chain) In this, it is stated: Even if a person was at the far end of the market, he would hear the voice of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), in fact, all the people in the market would hear that voice, while at that time the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was on the pulpit.
