Fath al-Rabbani
كتاب النار والجنةThe Book of Hellfire and Paradise
قَوْله ﷺ: «حُفَّتِ الْجَنَّةُ بِالْمَكَارِهِ »الخ
His (peace be upon him) saying: "Paradise is surrounded by hardships..." etc.
Hadith 13193
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”حُفَّتِ الْجَنَّةُ بِالْمَكَارِهِ وَحُفَّتِ النَّارُ بِالشَّهَوَاتِ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Paradise is surrounded by undesirable things, and Hell is surrounded by pleasurable things.
Hadith 13194
وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) has also narrated a similar type of hadith from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 13195
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: لَمَّا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ الْجَنَّةَ وَالنَّارَ أَرْسَلَ جِبْرِيلَ قَالَ: انْظُرْ إِلَيْهَا وَإِلَى مَا أَعْدَدْتُّ لِأَهْلِهَا فِيهَا فَجَاءَ فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهَا وَإِلَى مَا أَعَدَّ اللَّهُ لِأَهْلِهَا فِيهَا فَرَجَعَ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ: وَعِزَّتِكَ لَا يَسْمَعُ بِهَا أَحَدٌ إِلَّا دَخَلَهَا فَأَمَرَ بِهَا فَحُجِبَتْ بِالْمَكَارِهِ قَالَ: ارْجِعْ إِلَيْهَا فَانْظُرْ إِلَيْهَا وَإِلَى مَا أَعْدَدْتُّ لِأَهْلِهَا فِيهَا قَالَ: فَرَجَعَ إِلَيْهَا وَإِذَا هِيَ قَدْ حُجِبَتْ بِالْمَكَارِهِ فَرَجَعَ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ: وَعِزَّتِكَ قَدْ خَشِيتُ أَنْ لَا يَدْخُلَهَا أَحَدٌ قَالَ: اذْهَبْ إِلَى النَّارِ فَانْظُرْ إِلَيْهَا وَإِلَى مَا أَعْدَدْتُّ لِأَهْلِهَا فِيهَا فَإِذَا هِيَ تَرْكَبُ بَعْضُهَا بَعْضًا فَرَجَعَ قَالَ: وَعِزَّتِكَ لَقَدْ خَشِيتُ أَنْ لَا يَسْمَعَ بِهَا أَحَدٌ فَيَدْخُلَهَا فَأَمَرَ بِهَا فَحُفَّتْ بِالشَّهَوَاتِ فَقَالَ: وَعِزَّتِكَ لَقَدْ خَشِيتُ أَنْ لَا يَنْجُوَ مِنْهَا أَحَدٌ إِلَّا دَخَلَهَا“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: When Allah Almighty created Paradise and Hell, He sent Gabriel (peace be upon him) and said to him: Look at Paradise and at the things prepared in it for the people of Paradise. He came to Paradise and saw it, and also saw what Allah Almighty had prepared in it for the people of Paradise. He returned to Allah Almighty and said: By Your honor! Whoever hears about it will surely enter it. Then Allah Almighty commanded, and a fence of disliked deeds was placed around Paradise, and He commanded him again: Now go and look at Paradise and at the things I have prepared in it for My servants. Gabriel (peace be upon him) went towards Paradise and saw that a fence of deeds disliked by people was placed around it, and he returned to Allah Almighty and said: By Your honor! I fear that not a single person will be able to enter Paradise. Then Allah Almighty commanded Gabriel to go and look at Hell and at the things prepared in it for the people of Hell. He went and saw that some parts of Hell were overtaking other parts. He returned and said: By Your honor! I think that whoever hears about this Hell will not enter it. Then Allah Almighty commanded, and a fence of desires, that is, the deeds beloved to people, was placed around Hell. Gabriel (peace be upon him) saw them and said: By Your honor! I think that no one will be able to escape from it.
