الصِّرَاطُ وَشَفَاعَةُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ وَالْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَتَحَتُنُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِرَحْمَتِهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ الْمُوَحِدِينَ
The Bridge (Sirat), the intercession of the prophets and believers, and Allah's mercy upon His monotheistic servants
Hadith 13180
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ تُبَدَّلُ الْأَرْضُ غَيْرَ الْأَرْضِ وَالسَّمَاوَاتُ أَيْنَ النَّاسُ قَالَ ”إِنَّ هَذَا الشَّيْءَ مَا سَأَلَنِي عَنْهُ أَحَدٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِي قَبْلَكِ النَّاسُ عَلَى الصِّرَاطِ“
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she said: O Messenger of Allah! On the day when the earth and the heavens will be changed, where will the people be on that day? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No one from my Ummah before you has asked me about this. At that time, the people will be on the Bridge of Sirat.
Hadith 13181
وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ ”يُوضَعُ الصِّرَاطُ بَيْنَ ظَهْرَيْ جَهَنَّمَ عَلَيْهِ حَسَكٌ كَحَسَكِ السَّعْدَانِ ثُمَّ يَسْتَجِيزُ النَّاسُ فَنَاجٍ مُسَلَّمٌ وَمَجْرُوحٌ بِهِ ثُمَّ نَاجٍ وَمُحْتَبَسٌ بِهِ مَنْكُوسٌ فِيهَا فَإِذَا فَرَغَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنَ الْقَضَاءِ بَيْنَ الْعِبَادِ يَفْقِدُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ رِجَالًا كَانُوا مَعَهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا يُصَلُّونَ بِصَلَاتِهِمْ وَيُزَكُّونَ بِزَكَاتِهِمْ وَيَصُومُونَ صِيَامَهُمْ وَيَحُجُّونَ حَجَّهُمْ وَيَغْزُونَ غَزْوَهُمْ فَيَقُولُونَ أَيْ رَبَّنَا عِبَادٌ مِنْ عِبَادِكَ كَانُوا مَعَنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا يُصَلُّونَ صَلَاتَنَا وَيُزَكُّونَ زَكَاتَنَا وَيَصُومُونَ صِيَامَنَا وَيَحُجُّونَ حَجَّنَا وَيَغْزُونَ غَزْوَنَا لَا نَرَاهُمْ فَيَقُولُ اذْهَبُوا إِلَى النَّارِ فَمَنْ وَجَدْتُمْ فِيهَا مِنْهُمْ فَأَخْرِجُوهُ قَالَ فَيَجِدُونَهُمْ قَدْ أَخَذَتْهُمُ النَّارُ عَلَى قَدْرِ أَعْمَالِهِمْ فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ أَخَذَتْهُ إِلَى قَدَمَيْهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ أَخَذَتْهُ إِلَى نِصْفِ سَاقَيْهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ أَخَذَتْهُ إِلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ أَزَرَتْهُ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ أَخَذَتْهُ إِلَى ثَدْيَيْهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ أَخَذَتْهُ إِلَى عُنُقِهِ وَلَمْ تَغْشَ الْوُجُوهَ فَيَسْتَخْرِجُونَهُمْ مِنْهَا فَيُطْرَحُونَ فِي مَاءِ الْحَيَاةِ“ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَمَا الْحَيَاةُ قَالَ ”غُسْلُ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فَيَنْبُتُونَ نَبَاتَ الزَّرْعَةِ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً فِيهِ كَمَا تَنْبُتُ الزَّرْعَةُ فِي غُثَاءِ السَّيْلِ ثُمَّ يَشْفَعُ الْأَنْبِيَاءُ فِي كُلِّ مَنْ كَانَ يَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ مُخْلِصًا فَيُخْرِجُونَهُمْ مِنْهَا قَالَ ثُمَّ يَتَحَنَّنُ اللَّهُ بِرَحْمَتِهِ عَلَى مَنْ فِيهَا فَمَا يَتْرُكُ فِيهَا عَبْدًا فِي قَلْبِهِ مِثْقَالُ حَبَّةٍ مِنْ إِيمَانٍ إِلَّا أَخْرَجَهُ مِنْهَا“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A bridge (Sirat) will be placed over Hell, and on it there will be thorny plants like the thorns of Sa'dan. Then people will pass over it; some will cross it safely and attain salvation, and some will stumble and fall while crossing but will still attain salvation, and some will be stopped on it and thrown headlong into Hell. When Allah Almighty has finished judging between His servants, the believers will not see some people who used to pray with them in the world, give zakat, fast, perform Hajj, and strive in jihad. So they will say: O our Lord! Your servants who used to pray with us in the world, give zakat with us, fast, perform Hajj with us, and strive in jihad with us, we do not see them. Allah Almighty will say: Go into Hell and look; whoever you find among them, bring him out. So they will find them in Hell, and the fire will have burnt them according to their deeds—some up to their feet, some up to half their shins, some up to their knees, some up to their waists, some up to their chests, and some up to their necks. However, the fire will not burn their faces. These people will bring them out of Hell and then immerse them in the Water of Life (Ma’ul Hayat). Someone asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is the Water of Life? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is the water for the bath of the people of Paradise. They will grow in it just as plants grow in the foam of a flood. Then the noble Prophets will intercede for those who sincerely bore witness that Allah is the only true deity, and they will be brought out from there. After that, Allah Almighty will bestow His special mercy upon the people of Hell, and whoever has even a grain’s weight of faith in his heart, Allah will take him out of Hell.
Hadith 13182
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”يَخْلُصُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مِنَ النَّارِ فَيُحْبَسُونَ عَلَى قَنْطَرَةٍ بَيْنَ الْجَنَّةِ وَالنَّارِ فَيُقْتَصُّ لِبَعْضِهِمْ مِنْ بَعْضٍ مَظَالِمُ كَانَتْ بَيْنَهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا حَتَّى إِذَا هُذِّبُوا وَنُقُّوا أُذِنَ لَهُمْ فِي دُخُولِ الْجَنَّةِ فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَأَحَدُهُمْ أَهْدَى لِمَنْزِلِهِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ مِنْهُ بِمَنْزِلِهِ كَانَ فِي الدُّنْيَا“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When the people of faith will be saved from Hell on the Day of Resurrection, they will be stopped on a bridge between Paradise and Hell, so that the injustices they committed against each other in the world may be requited among them. When they are thoroughly purified and cleansed, they will be permitted to enter Paradise. By Him in Whose hand is my soul! Just as they knew the way to their homes in the world, they will reach their places in Paradise even more easily than that.
Hadith 13183
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثَنَا عَفَّانُ ثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سُلَيْمَانَ الْمِصْرِيَّ حَدَّثَنِي عُقْبَةُ بْنُ صَهْبَانَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا بَكْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ ”يُحْمَلُ النَّاسُ عَلَى الصِّرَاطِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَتَقَادَعُ بِهِمْ جَنْبَةُ الصِّرَاطِ تَقَادُعَ الْفَرَاشِ فِي النَّارِ قَالَ فَيُنْجِي اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى بِرَحْمَتِهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ قَالَ ثُمَّ يُؤْذَنُ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالنَّبِيِّينَ وَالشُّهَدَاءِ أَنْ يَشْفَعُوا فَيَشْفَعُونَ وَيُخْرِجُونَ وَيَشْفَعُونَ وَيُخْرِجُونَ“ وَزَادَ عَفَّانُ مَرَّةً فَقَالَ أَيْضًا ”وَيَشْفَعُونَ وَيُخْرِجُونَ مَنْ كَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مَا يَزِنُ ذَرَّةً مِنْ إِيمَانٍ“ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ ثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ مِثْلَهُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, people will be made to walk on the Bridge of Sirat, and people will be thrown into Hell from the edge of the bridge in such a way as moths fall rapidly and successively into the fire. In any case, Allah Almighty will save those servants about whom He wills. After that, the angels, prophets, and martyrs will be given permission to intercede on behalf of the people, so they will continue to intercede and take them out of Hell. They will continue to intercede on behalf of the people and take them out of Hell, and they will continue to intercede, and those in whose hearts there is even a particle of faith will be taken out of Hell.
Hadith 13184
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ ”يُضْرَبُ جَسْرٌ عَلَى جَهَنَّمَ“ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”فَأَكُونُ أَوَّلَ مَنْ يُجِيزُ وَدَعْوَى الرُّسُلِ يَوْمَئِذٍ اللَّهُمَّ سَلِّمْ سَلِّمْ وَبِهَا كَلَالِيبُ مِثْلُ شَوْكِ السَّعْدَانِ هَلْ رَأَيْتُمْ شَوْكَ السَّعْدَانِ“ قَالُوا نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ”فَإِنَّهَا مِثْلُ شَوْكِ السَّعْدَانِ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ لَا يَعْلَمُ قَدْرَ عِظَمِهَا إِلَّا اللَّهُ تَعَالَى فَتُخْطَفُ النَّاسَ بِأَعْمَالِهِمْ فَمِنْهُمُ الْمُوبَقُ بِعَمَلِهِ وَمِنْهُمُ الْمُخَرْدَلُ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: A bridge will be placed over Hell. Then he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: I will be the first to cross over that bridge. On that day, even the call of the Messengers will be: O Allah! Keep [us] safe, keep [us] safe. On that bridge, there will be hooks like the thorns of Sa‘dan, bent like them. Have you seen the thorns of Sa‘dan? The Companions said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah! He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: They will be like the thorns of Sa‘dan, but none knows their great size except Allah, the Exalted. People will be snatched away according to their deeds; some will perish just like that, and some will be destroyed, torn into pieces.
