Hadith 13176
Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash’ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty will gather all the nations on a barren plain on the Day of Resurrection. When Allah wills to judge between His creation, He will present before every nation the form of whatever they used to worship. Those people will follow their respective deities and enter Hell, while we will be on a high place. Our Lord will come to us and say: Who are you people? We will reply: We are Muslims. He will ask: Whom are you waiting for? We will say: We are waiting for our Lord. He will ask: Will you recognize Him when you see Him? We will say: Yes. He will ask: But you have never seen Him, so how will you recognize Him? We will say: We will recognize Him because He is unique; there is none like Him. Then Allah Almighty will appear before them smiling and say: O Muslims! Congratulations, for I have sent a Jew or a Christian to Hell in place of each one of you.
Hadith 13177
‘Ammarah Qurashi says: We went as a delegation to ‘Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Aziz, and among the delegation was Sayyiduna Abu Burdah (may Allah be pleased with him). ‘Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Aziz fulfilled our need. When Sayyiduna Abu Burdah (may Allah be pleased with him) left from there, he recited: “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji‘un.” ‘Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Aziz, seeing him, said: “What has the elder remembered? Did I not fulfill your need?” Sayyiduna Abu Burdah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The work has been done, but one hadith remains, which my father (Sayyiduna Abu Musa, may Allah be pleased with him) narrated to me, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty will gather the nations on the Day of Resurrection, … then he mentioned as in the previous hadith.” ‘Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Aziz asked Sayyiduna Abu Burdah: “By Allah! Did you really hear this hadith from Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him), that he narrated it from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?” He said: “Yes, I heard my father narrate this hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).”
Hadith 13178
Awn and Sa'id bin Abi Burdah both narrate that they were present, and Sayyiduna Abu Burdah was relating this hadith before Umar bin Abdul Aziz from his father, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whenever a Muslim dies, Allah will admit in his place a Jew or a Christian into Hell." Umar bin Abdul Aziz made him swear three times by Allah, besides whom there is no deity, that indeed his father narrated this hadith to him from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. He swore in response. Sa'id, the narrator, did not mention the swearing, but he also did not deny Awn's statement about it.
Hadith 13179
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Burdah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) stated: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the Day of Resurrection comes, every believer will be given a Jew or a Christian and it will be said, "This person is your ransom for your salvation from Hell." Sayyiduna Abu Burdah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Umar bin Abdul Aziz made me swear by the name of Allah whether I had really heard Sayyiduna Abu Musa narrate this hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and I said, "Yes." Upon hearing this, Umar bin Abdul Aziz became happy.
