Fath al-Rabbani

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the night of Isra, I met Ibrahim, Musa, and Isa (peace be upon them). When they mentioned the Day of Resurrection, all of them referred the matter to Ibrahim (peace be upon him), but he said: I have no knowledge of it. Then they referred the matter to Musa (peace be upon him), but he also said: I have no knowledge of it. And he referred the matter to Isa (peace be upon him), who said: As for the occurrence of the Day of Resurrection, only Allah Almighty has knowledge of it. However, my Lord informed me that before the Day of Resurrection, the Dajjal will appear. (When I, Isa, descend) I will have two staffs (or swords) with me. When he sees me, he will melt away just as lead melts. Then Allah Almighty will destroy him, until every stone and tree will speak and say: O Muslim! There is a disbeliever hiding behind me, come and kill him. In this way, Allah Almighty will annihilate them. After that, people will return to their cities and homelands. Thereafter, Gog and Magog will appear and they will come forth from every height and will overrun the cities of the people. Whatever they reach, they will destroy, and whatever water they pass by, they will drink it up. Then people will come to me to complain about them, and I will supplicate to Allah Almighty against them. So Allah Almighty will destroy them, and the whole earth will become foul-smelling due to the stench of their corpses. Then Allah Almighty will send rain, which will wash their bodies away into the sea. Imam Ahmad says: At this point, I could not understand part of the hadith. Ibn Harun narrated it thus: The mountains will be crushed to pieces and the earth will be spread out like leather. After that, he returned to the narration of Hashim and said: (Isa, peace be upon him, will say) Among the things my Lord told me is that when such conditions arise, the Day of Resurrection can come at any time, just like a pregnant woman who has completed her term, and her family does not know at what time of day or night she will suddenly give birth.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yajuj and Majuj dig at the wall every day. When the sun is about to set, their leader says: Go back, you will dig it tomorrow. But when they come the next day, the wall is even stronger than before. (This happens every day) until their appointed time is fulfilled and Allah wills that they come out to the people. They will dig in the same way, and when the sun is about to set, this time their leader will say: Go back, if Allah wills, you will dig the rest tomorrow. This time he will say insha’Allah. The next day, when they come, they will find it in the same condition as they left it, so they will dig through it and come out to the people. They will drink up all the waters, and people, out of fear of them, will lock themselves in their forts. (After taking control of the earth) Yajuj and Majuj will shoot arrows towards the sky, and the arrows will return blood-stained. Seeing this, they will say: We have prevailed over the people of the earth and the people of the sky as well. Then Allah will create a worm in their necks, because of which they will die. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is my soul! The animals of the earth will become fat and healthy by eating their flesh and blood.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Today, a hole of this much has been made in the wall of Gog and Magog." To clarify, the narrator of the hadith, Wahib, made a circle of ninety (90) with his fingers.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Eventually, the wall will be opened for Gog and Magog, and they will come out towards the people, as Allah Almighty has said: {مِنْ کُلِّ حَدَبٍ یَّنْسِلُوْنَ} (Surah Al-Anbiya: 96) (They will descend swiftly from every height), they will spread over the earth, and the Muslims, to protect themselves from their evil and tribulations, will lock themselves in their cities and fortresses and will also take their cattle with them. Gog and Magog will drink so much water from the earth that when some of them pass by a river, they will drink it in such a way that the river will dry up. Those who come after them will say about that river that there used to be water here. When every person will be locked in his fortress or city (and they will have complete control over the earth), then one of the Gog and Magog will say: We have finished with the people of the earth, only those in the sky remain. Then one of them will move his spear and throw it towards the sky, and the spear will return blood-stained as a trial and test for them. (Seeing this, they will say that we have also prevailed over those in the sky). While they are in such a state, Allah Almighty will create a worm in their necks, like the larvae of locusts in their necks, and because of this, all of them will die in such a way that not even a movement will be heard from them. The Muslims will say to each other: Is there anyone who will sacrifice himself and bring news of what has happened to Gog and Magog? One Muslim, thinking he will be killed there, will go to see the state of the enemy, but when he reaches among them, he will see that they are all lying dead on top of each other. He will call out to the Muslims: O group of Muslims! Rejoice, Allah Almighty has destroyed your enemy. Then the Muslims will come out of their cities and fortresses and let their cattle out to graze. The food of these cattle will be the flesh of Gog and Magog; never before had they been so satiated by eating grass as they will be by eating their flesh.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Even after the appearance of Gog and Magog, Hajj and Umrah of the House of Allah will be performed.

Ibn Harmalah narrates from his maternal aunt that once the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, delivered a sermon while he had a bandage wrapped around his finger due to a scorpion sting. In it, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: You say that now none of your enemies remain, but remember, you will continue to fight your enemies until Gog and Magog appear. Their faces will be broad and their eyes small, and there will be a reddish tinge in the hair of their heads. They will come running from every height, and their faces will be flat and broad like shields.
