فَصْلٌ فِي نُزُولِ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ عِيسَى بْنِ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ وَقَتْلِهِ الدَّجَّالَ وَعَدْلِهِ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ وَمَكْثِهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً ثُمَّ يُتَوَفَّى وَيُصَلِّي عَلَيْهِ الْمُسْلِمُونَ
Section regarding the descent of the Prophet Jesus son of Mary (peace be upon him), his killing of the Dajjal, his justice among people, his stay on earth for forty years, then his death and the Muslims' prayer over him
Hadith 13016
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ ”الْأَنْبِيَاءُ إِخْوَةٌ لِعَلَّاتٍ أُمَّهَاتُهُمْ شَتَّى وَدِينُهُمْ وَاحِدٌ وَأَنَا أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِعِيسَى بْنِ مَرْيَمَ لِأَنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ نَبِيٌّ وَإِنَّهُ نَازِلٌ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُ فَاعْرِفُوهُ رَجُلًا مَرْبُوعًا إِلَى الْحُمْرَةِ وَالْبَيَاضِ عَلَيْهِ ثَوْبَانِ مُمَصَّرَانِ كَأَنَّ رَأْسَهُ يَقْطُرُ وَإِنْ لَمْ يُصِبْهُ بَلَلٌ فَيَدُقُّ الصَّلِيبَ وَيَقْتُلُ الْخِنْزِيرَ وَيَضَعُ الْجِزْيَةَ وَيَدْعُو النَّاسَ إِلَى الْإِسْلَامِ فَيُهْلِكُ اللَّهُ فِي زَمَانِهِ الْمِلَلَ كُلَّهَا إِلَّا الْإِسْلَامَ وَيُهْلِكُ اللَّهُ فِي زَمَانِهِ الْمَسِيحَ الدَّجَّالَ وَتَقَعُ الْأَمَنَةُ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ حَتَّى تَرْتَعَ الْأَسْوَدُ مَعَ الْإِبِلِ وَالنِّمَارُ مَعَ الْبَقَرِ وَالذِّئَابُ مَعَ الْغَنَمِ وَيَلْعَبُ الصِّبْيَانُ بِالْحَيَّاتِ لَا تَضُرُّهُمْ فَيَمْكُثُ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً ثُمَّ يُتَوَفَّى وَيُصَلِّي عَلَيْهِ الْمُسْلِمُونَ“ زَادَ فِي رِوَايَةٍ ”وَيَدْفُنُونَهُ“
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Prophets are paternal brothers (that is, their father is one) and their mothers are different, and their religion is one. And I am the closest of all people to ‘Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him) because there is no prophet between me and him, and he will descend (among my Ummah). When you see him, recognize him: he is of medium height, his complexion is reddish-white, he will be dressed in two cotton sheets, and when he descends, it will appear as if drops of water are falling from his head, although it will not be wet. He will fight people for Islam, break the cross, kill the swine, the concept of jizyah will end, and Allah Almighty will destroy all (false) religions except Islam during his time, and he will also destroy the Messiah Dajjal. And (during his time) there will be so much peace on earth that snakes will graze with camels, leopards with cows, and wolves with sheep, and children will play with snakes and they will not harm them. Hazrat ‘Isa (peace be upon him) will pass away after staying on earth for forty years, and the Muslims will offer his funeral prayer. And in another narration: then they will bury him.
Hadith 13017
وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ آخَرَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ ”الْأَنْبِيَاءُ“ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ ”حَتَّى يَهْلِكَ فِي زَمَانِهِ مَسِيحُ الضَّلَالَةِ الْأَعْوَرُ الْكَذَّابُ“
(Second chain) The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: This hadith is similar in meaning to the one with the first chain, except that in this one it is stated: In their time, the one-eyed misleader and the false messiah will be destroyed.
Hadith 13018
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”يَنْزِلُ عِيسَى بْنُ مَرْيَمَ فَيَقْتُلُ الْخِنْزِيرَ وَيَمْحُو الصَّلِيبَ وَتُجْمَعُ لَهُ الصَّلَاةُ وَيُعْطِي الْمَالَ حَتَّى لَا يَقْبَلَهُ وَيَضَعُ الْخِرَاجَ وَيَنْزِلُ الرَّوْحَاءَ وَيَحُجُّ مِنْهَا أَوْ يَعْتَمِرُ أَوْ يَجْمَعُهُمَا“ قَالَ وَتَلَا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ {وَإِنْ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ إِلَّا لَيُؤْمِنَنَّ بِهِ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ شَهِيدًا} فَزَعَمَ حَنْظَلَةُ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ يُؤْمِنُ بِهِ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ عِيسَى فَلَا أَدْرِي هَذَا كُلُّهُ حَدِيثُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْ شَيْءٌ قَالَهُ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Isa (peace be upon him) will descend from the sky to the earth, he will kill the swine, erase the cross, congregational prayer will be performed at his arrival, he will distribute so much wealth among the people that eventually no one will accept any wealth, he will abolish the jizya, and he will descend at the place of Ruhā’ and from there he will set out in the state of ihram for Hajj or ‘Umrah or both. Then Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) recited this verse: {وَاِنْ مِّنْ اَھْلِ الْکِتَابِ اِلَّا لَیُوْمِنَنَّ بِہٖ قَبْلَ مَوْتِہٖ وَیَوْمَ الْقِیَامَۃِ یَکُوْنُ عَلَیْہِمْ شَہِیْدًا۔} (Surah An-Nisa: 159) (And there is none of the People of the Book but will believe in him before his death, and on the Day of Resurrection he will be a witness against them). Hanzalah thinks that Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said it in this way: that before the death of Isa (peace be upon him), they will believe in him; now I do not know whether all these words are from the Prophetic hadith or from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him).
Hadith 13019
وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ آخَرَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَيُهِلَّنَّ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ بِفَجِّ الرَّوْحَاءِ حَاجًّا أَوْ مُعْتَمِرًا أَوْ لَيَثْنِيَنَّهُمَا“
(Second chain) The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: By Him in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad! The son of Mary, peace be upon him, will recite the talbiyah for Hajj or Umrah or both on the wide road of Rawha.
Hadith 13020
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ ”إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو إِنْ طَالَ بِي عُمُرٌ أَنْ أَلْقَى عِيسَى بْنَ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَإِنْ عَجِلَ بِي مَوْتٌ فَمَنْ لَقِيَهُ مِنْكُمْ فَلْيُقْرِئْهُ مِنِّي السَّلَامَ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, said: I hope that if my life is prolonged, I will meet ‘Isa ibn Maryam, peace be upon him, and if my death comes soon, then whoever among you meets him, convey my greetings to him on my behalf.
Hadith 13021
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”يُوشِكُ الْمَسِيحُ بْنُ مَرْيَمَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ حَكَمًا قِسْطًا وَإِمَامًا عَدْلًا فَيَقْتُلُ الْخِنْزِيرَ وَيَكْسِرُ الصَّلِيبَ وَتَكُونُ الدَّعْوَةُ وَاحِدَةً، فَأَقْرِئُوهُ أَوْ أَقْرِئْهُ السَّلَامَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ وَأُحَدِّثُهُ فَيُصَدِّقُنِي، فَلَمَّا حَضَرَتْهُ الْوَفَاةُ قَالَ أَقْرِئْهُ مِنِّي السَّلَامَ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Soon, the Messiah, son of Mary, peace be upon him, will descend as a just and fair ruler. He will kill the swine, break the cross, and the religion will become one. Convey to him the greetings of the Messenger of Allah. If it happens that I converse with him, he will affirm me. Then, when the time of the Prophet’s, peace and blessings be upon him, passing drew near, he said: Convey my greetings to him on my behalf.
Hadith 13022
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ”كَيْفَ بِكُمْ إِذَا نَزَلَ فِيكُمْ عِيسَى بْنُ مَرْيَمَ وَإِمَامُكُمْ مِنْكُمْ (وَفِي لَفْظٍ) فَأَمَّكُمْ أَوْ قَالَ إِمَامُكُمْ مِنْكُمْ“
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: What will be your condition when Isa ibn Maryam, peace be upon him, descends among you and your leader will be from among yourselves?
