Hadith 12941
Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the land of Basrah and said: On one side of it is a river called Dijlah (Tigris), and there are many date palms there. The Banu Qantura (i.e., the Turks) will come and settle there, and the Muslims will be divided into three groups: one group will join their origin (i.e., will become occupied with their fields and cattle), these people will be destroyed; the second group will remain aloof, these people will become disbelievers; and one group will leave their wives and children behind and will fight, their slain will be martyrs, then Allah Almighty will grant victory to the remaining ones. Once, while narrating this hadith, Yazid bin Harun was uncertain whether it was Basirah or Basrah.
Hadith 12942
(Second chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You will surely settle on the land of Basrah or Basirah by the bank of the river Dijlah (Tigris), ... then he mentioned as in the previous hadith. The common people said: By Banu Qantura are meant the Turks."
Hadith 12943
(Third chain) Abdullah bin Abu Bakrah says: My father narrated to me in that mosque of Basra that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: A group of my Ummah will surely settle in the land called Basra, there they will be great in number and there will be an abundance of dates. Then the Banu Qantura, whose faces will be flat and eyes small, will come and camp at the bridge of the Tigris. Thereupon, the Muslims will be divided into three groups: one group will hold onto the tails of camels and head towards the villages; these people will be destroyed. The second group will remain absorbed in their own state; they will become disbelievers. Both these groups will be equal in terms of their end. The third group will leave their families behind and fight against the disbelievers; their slain will be martyrs. Then Allah, the Exalted, will grant victory to the remaining people of this group.
Hadith 12944
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Buraidah Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I was sitting with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when I heard him say: A people whose faces will be broad and their eyes small, as if their faces are as broad as shields (he said this three times), this people will drive my Ummah towards the Arabian Peninsula. Whoever flees from their first encounter will be saved, in the second encounter some will be killed and some will be saved, and in the third time, they will wipe out even those who remain. The Companions asked: O Messenger of Allah! Who will these people be? He said: They will be the Turks. He (peace and blessings be upon him) further said: By Him in Whose hand is my soul! They will tie their horses to the pillars of the Muslims’ mosques. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Buraidah, after hearing this hadith of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), used to always keep two or three camels, travel provisions, and water skins ready in order to escape from the trial of the Turkish rulers.
