Hadith 12926
It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: At the time of the death of a (certain) caliph, people will fall into disagreement. At that time, a man will flee from Madinah Munawwarah and go to Makkah Mukarramah. Some people from among the people of Makkah will come to him, bring him out, and pledge allegiance to him between the Black Stone and the Station of Ibrahim, while he will dislike this. An army from Syria will march against them, but when it reaches the plain of Bayda, it will be swallowed up by the earth right there. When people see this situation, the righteous people of Syria and the armies of Iraq will come and pledge allegiance to him. Then a man from the Quraysh will rise, whose maternal uncles are from the tribe of Kalb. The man from Makkah will send a detachment against him, and they will prevail over them. This will be the army of Banu Kalb. Woe to those who are not present for the spoils of Banu Kalb. Then he will distribute wealth among the people and establish the practice of the Prophet among the people, and he will establish and strengthen the religion of Islam on the earth, and he will remain for seven years.
Hadith 12927
Ubaid bin Qabtiyah says: Harith bin Abi Rabi’ah and Abdullah bin Safwan went to Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), and I was with them. They asked the Lady about the army that would be swallowed up by the earth. This was during the caliphate of Sayyiduna Ibn Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him). Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: A seeker of refuge will take refuge in Hatim, so Allah Almighty will send an army against him, but when they reach Bayda’, they will be swallowed up by the earth. I said: O Messenger of Allah! What will happen to the person who is compelled to go with them? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He will also be swallowed up with them, but on the Day of Resurrection, he will be raised according to his intention. When I mentioned this hadith to Abu Ja’far, he said that by this is meant the Bayda’ near Madinah.
Hadith 12928
It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her): Once, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was lying in my house, when suddenly he quickly sat up and began to recite: "Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return." I said: O Messenger of Allah! May my parents be sacrificed for you, what has happened that you are reciting "Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return"? He replied: A group from my Ummah will come from the direction of Syria; they will come to confront a man who will be protected by Allah Almighty. When this group reaches the plain of Bayda near Dhul-Hulaifa, all the people included in it will be swallowed up by the earth, but their resurrection from the earth will be in different ways. I said: O Messenger of Allah! How will it be that all the people will be swallowed up, but their resurrection from the earth will be different from each other? He replied: Among them will be some people who will have been compelled, among them will be some people who will have been compelled. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) repeated this sentence three times.
Hadith 12929
It is narrated from Sayyida Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: An army will set out with the intention of attacking the House of Allah (the Ka'bah). When they reach the place of Bayda, those in the middle of them will be swallowed up by the earth, and the first and last of them will begin to call out to each other, but none will be saved except for one wanderer, who will inform others about those who were swallowed up. One narrator said: By Allah! I have not lied against Sayyida Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her), and she did not lie against the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 12930
It is narrated from Sayyida Hafsa bint Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "An army will come from the east, intending to attack a man in Makkah. When they reach the place of Bayda, they will be swallowed up by the earth. Those who had gone ahead will turn back to see what happened to those behind, and they too will be caught in the same calamity. I (Hafsa) said: O Messenger of Allah! What will happen to those among them who were brought by force? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: They will all be swallowed up, then Allah, the Exalted, will resurrect each one according to his intention."
Hadith 12931
Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: People will not cease attacking this House of Allah, until an army sets out with this intention. But when they reach the place of Bayda, the first of them and the last of them, all will be swallowed up by the earth, and those in between will not be saved either. Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Messenger of Allah! What is your opinion about those people who will be there by compulsion? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah will resurrect them according to the intentions in their hearts.
