It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the last third of the night remains, Allah Almighty descends to the sky of the world and the gates of the heavens are opened. Then Allah Almighty spreads out His hand and says: Is there anyone who asks, so that he may be given? This condition remains until the break of dawn.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin Abasah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I said, "O Messenger of Allah! May Allah sacrifice me for you, there is a matter which you know and I am unaware of it, if you tell me, it will not harm you, but Allah the Exalted will benefit me from it. Is there any hour that is superior to another hour? And is there any time in which one should refrain from worship?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: "You have asked me about a matter which no one before you has asked me. After half the night has passed, Allah the Exalted descends below the Throne, and at that time, except for those who commit shirk and rebellion, all other sinners are forgiven. At every prayer time, angels are present. You can perform the morning prayer until sunrise, but when the sun rises, refrain from prayer." This hadith has been explained in detail in the virtues of Umar bin Abasah.
