البابُ النَّاسِعُ فِي فَضْلِ الْبَقِيعِ وَأَحُدٍ وَالْحِجَازِ
The ninth chapter regarding the virtue of al-Baqi', Uhud, and the Hijaz
Hadith 12707
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي مُوَيْهِبَةَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ ”يَا أَبَا مُوَيْهِبَةَ إِنِّي قَدْ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَسْتَغْفِرَ لِأَهْلِ الْبَقِيعِ فَانْطَلِقْ مَعِي“ فَانْطَلَقْتُ مَعَهُ فَلَمَّا وَقَفَ بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِهِمْ قَالَ ”السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا أَهْلَ الْمَقَابِرِ لِيَهْنِ لَكُمْ مَا أَصْبَحْتُمْ فِيهِ مِمَّا أَصْبَحَ فِيهِ النَّاسُ لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ مَا نَجَّاكُمُ اللَّهُ مِنْهُ أَقْبَلَتِ الْفِتَنُ كَقِطَعِ اللَّيْلِ الْمُظْلِمِ يَتْبَعُ أَوَّلُهَا آخِرَهَا الْآخِرَةُ شَرٌّ مِنَ الْأُولَى“ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيَّ فَقَالَ ”يَا أَبَا مُوَيْهِبَةَ إِنِّي قَدْ أُوتِيتُ مَفَاتِيحَ خَزَائِنِ الدُّنْيَا وَالْخُلْدَ فِيهَا ثُمَّ الْجَنَّةَ وَخُيِّرْتُ بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ وَبَيْنَ لِقَاءِ رَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَالْجَنَّةِ“ قَالَ قُلْتُ بِأَبِي وَأُمِّي فَخُذْ مَفَاتِيحَ الدُّنْيَا وَالْخُلْدَ فِيهَا ثُمَّ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ ”لَا وَاللَّهِ يَا أَبَا مُوَيْهِبَةَ لَقَدِ اخْتَرْتُ لِقَاءَ رَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَالْجَنَّةَ“ ثُمَّ اسْتَغْفَرَ لِأَهْلِ الْبَقِيعِ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ فَبُدِئَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي وَجَعِهِ الَّذِي قَبَضَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِيهِ حِينَ أَصْبَحَ
Mawla-e-Rasool Sayyiduna Abu Muwayhibah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: He says, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) woke me up at midnight and said: "Abu Muwayhibah! I have been commanded to pray for forgiveness for the people of Baqi' graveyard, so come with me." I set out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). When he arrived there and stood among them, he said: "O inhabitants of the graves! Peace be upon you. Congratulations to you for the state you are in, compared to the conditions people are now facing. If only you knew what Allah has saved you from. Trials are coming one after another like the dark portions of the night, each subsequent trial worse than the previous one." After this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) turned to me and said: "Abu Muwayhibah! I have been given the treasures of the world and everlastingness in it, and after that Paradise, and I have been given the choice to choose between the world or meeting my Lord and Paradise." Abu Muwayhibah says: I said, "May my parents be sacrificed for you! O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), choose the treasures of the world and everlastingness in it, and after that Paradise." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: "Abu Muwayhibah! By Allah! No, I have chosen to meet my Lord and Paradise." After that, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) prayed for forgiveness for the people of Baqi', and then returned. The next morning, the illness of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) began, in which Allah, the Exalted, took him from this world.
Hadith 12708
وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ آخَرَ قَالَ أُمِرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْبَقِيعِ فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْلَةً ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ فَلَمَّا كَانَتِ اللَّيْلَةُ الثَّانِيَةُ قَالَ ”يَا أَبَا مُوَيْهِبَةَ أَسْرِجْ لِي دَابَّتِي“ قَالَ فَرَكِبَ فَمَشَيْتُ حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَيْهِمْ فَنَزَلَ عَنْ دَابَّتِهِ وَأَمْسَكْتُ الدَّابَّةَ وَوَقَفَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ قَالَ قَامَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ ”لِيَهْنِكُمْ مَا أَنْتُمْ فِيهِ مِمَّا فِيهِ النَّاسُ أَتَتِ الْفِتَنُ كَقِطَعِ اللَّيْلِ يَرْكَبُ بَعْضُهَا بَعْضًا الْآخِرَةُ أَشَدُّ مِنَ الْأُولَى فَلِيَهْنِكُمْ مَا أَنْتُمْ فِيهِ“ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ
(Second chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Muwayhibah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was commanded to pray for the people of the Baqi' graveyard. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed for them three times in one night. When the second night came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Abu Muwayhibah! Prepare my mount." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mounted his ride and I walked on foot until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached the people of Baqi'. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) dismounted and I held the mount. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood there and said: "O people of Baqi'! Congratulations to you for the state you are in. Here, tribulations are coming like pieces of a dark night; each subsequent tribulation is harsher than the previous one. Therefore, congratulations to you for the state you are in."
Hadith 12709
عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَاهُ وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ قَفَلْنَا مَعَ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ غَزْوَةِ خَيْبَرَ فَلَمَّا بَدَا لَهُ أُحُدٌ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ جَبَلٌ يُحِبُّنَا وَنُحِبُّهُ“
Sayyiduna Suwaid Ansari, may Allah be pleased with him, who was among the Companions of the Messenger, narrates: He says, We were returning from the Battle of Khaybar in the company of Allah’s Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, when the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saw the mountain of Uhud. The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Allahu Akbar, the mountain of Uhud loves us and we love it.
Hadith 12710
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ ”إِنَّ أُحُدًا هَذَا جَبَلٌ يُحِبُّنَا وَنُحِبُّهُ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, said: Indeed, the Uhud mountain loves us and we love it.
Hadith 12711
وَعَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ حَدَّثَهُمْ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَعِدَ أُحُدًا فَتَبِعَهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ وَعُثْمَانُ فَرَجَفَ بِهِمُ الْجَبَلُ فَقَالَ ”اسْكُنْ عَلَيْكَ نَبِيٌّ وَصِدِّيقٌ وَشَهِيدَانِ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that indeed the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, went up Mount Uhud. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, and Sayyiduna Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him, also followed behind him. Upon their arrival, the mountain began to shake. The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to it: "Be still, for upon you is a Prophet, a Siddiq, and two martyrs."
