البَابُ الْخَامِسُ فِيمَا وَرَدَ فِي بَعْضٍ قَبَائِلِ الْعَرَبِ مَدْحًا وَذَمَّا
The fifth chapter regarding what has come about some Arab tribes in praise and criticism
Hadith 12564
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”قُرَيْشٌ وَالْأَنْصَارُ وَجُهَيْنَةُ وَمُزَيْنَةُ وَأَسْلَمُ وَغِفَارٌ وَأَشْجَعُ مَوَالِيَّ لَيْسَ لَهُمْ مَوْلًى دُونَ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Quraysh, Ansar, Juhainah, Muzainah, Banu Aslam, Banu Ghifar, and Banu Ashja‘—all of them are my allies; they have no other ally besides Allah and His Messenger.
Hadith 12565
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”لَأَسْلَمُ وَغِفَارٌ وَشَيْءٌ مِنْ مُزَيْنَةَ وَجُهَيْنَةَ أَوْ شَيْءٌ مِنْ جُهَيْنَةَ وَمُزَيْنَةَ خَيْرٌ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ“ قَالَ أَحْسِبُهُ قَالَ ”يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مِنْ أَسَدٍ وَغَطَفَانَ وَهَوَازِنَ وَتَمِيمٍ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Some people from the tribes of Banu Aslam, Banu Ghifar, Muzaynah, and Juhaynah are the best people in the sight of Allah. The narrator says: I think the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said that these tribes will be superior and better in the sight of Allah Almighty on the Day of Resurrection than Banu Asad, Banu Ghatafan, Banu Hawazin, and Banu Tamim.
Hadith 12566
عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”أَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللَّهُ، وَغِفَارٌ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهَا، وَعُصَيَّةُ الَّذِينَ عَصَوُا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: May Allah keep Banu Aslam safe, and may He forgive Banu Ghifar, and 'Usayyah has disobeyed Allah and His Messenger.
Hadith 12567
حَدَّثَنَا إِيَاسُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ”أَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللَّهُ، وَغِفَارٌ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهَا، أَمَا وَاللَّهِ! مَا أَنَا قُلْتُهُ وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ قَالَهُ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: May Allah keep Banu Salim safe and forgive Banu Ghifar. Beware! By Allah, I did not say this; Allah Himself has said it.
Hadith 12568
وَعَنْ أَبِي بَرْزَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”أَسْلَمَ سَالَمَهَا اللَّهُ وَغِفَارٌ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهَا، مَا أَنَا قُلْتُهُ وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَالَهُ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Barzah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: May Allah keep the tribe of Salim safe and forgive the tribe of Ghifar. I am not saying this; Allah Almighty is saying it.
Hadith 12569
عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي يَعْقُوبَ الضَّبِّيِّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ الْأَقْرَعَ بْنَ حَابِسٍ جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: إِنَّمَا بَايَعَكَ سُرَّاقُ الْحَجِيجِ مِنْ أَسْلَمَ وَغِفَارٍ وَمُزَيْنَةَ، وَأَحْسَبُ جُهَيْنَةَ، مُحَمَّدٌ الَّذِي يَشُكُّ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ أَسْلَمُ وَغِفَارٌ وَمُزَيْنَةَ، وَأَحْسَبُ جُهَيْنَةَ خَيْرًا مِنْ بَنِي تَمِيمٍ وَبَنِي عَامِرٍ وَأَسَدٍ وَغَطَفَانَ أَخَابُوا وَخَسِرُوا.“ فَقَالَ: نَعَمْ، فَقَالَ: ”وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّهُمْ لَأَخْيَرُ مِنْهُمْ إِنَّهُمْ لَأَخْيَرُ مِنْهُمْ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aqra’ bin Habis (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I presented myself before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Aslam, Ghifar, Muzaynah, and I think the narrator also mentioned Juhaynah, these tribes used to steal from the pilgrims, all these people have pledged allegiance to you, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: What do you think, if the tribes of Aslam, Ghifar, Muzaynah, and Juhaynah are better than the tribes of Tamim, Amir, Asad, and Ghatafan, would those tribes not be at a loss? He said: Yes. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is my soul, they are far better than them, they are much better than them. Regarding the tribe of Juhaynah, Muhammad bin Abi Ya’qub, the narrator, was in doubt.
Hadith 12570
عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ”إِنَّ أَسْلَمَ وَغِفَارًا وَمُزَيْنَةَ وَأَشْجَعَ وَجُهَيْنَةَ، وَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْ بَنِي كَعْبٍ مَوَالِيَّ دُونَ النَّاسِ، وَاللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ مَوْلَاهُمْ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The tribes of Aslam, Ghifar, Muzaynah, Ashja’, Juhaynah, and Banu Ka’b are my allies, supporters, and helpers, and Allah and His Messenger are their helpers.
