البابُ الثَّالِثُ فِي فَضْلِ الْقُرُونِ الْأَوَّلِ وَالثَّانِي وَالثَّالِثِ
The third chapter regarding the virtue of the first, second, and third generations
Hadith 12525
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”خَيْرُ النَّاسِ قَرْنِي ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ، ثُمَّ يَأْتِي بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ قَوْمٌ تَسْبِقُ شَهَادَاتُهُمْ أَيْمَانَهُمْ، وَأَيْمَانُهُمْ شَهَادَاتِهِمْ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The best era for the people is my era, then the one after it, then the one after it, and then the one after it. After that, there will come people whose testimonies will precede their oaths and whose oaths will precede their testimonies.
Hadith 12526
عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”خَيْرُ النَّاسِ قَرْنِي ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ يَجِيءُ قَوْمٌ يَتَسَمَّنُونَ يُحِبُّونَ السِّمَنَ يُعْطُونَ الشَّهَادَةَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسْأَلُوهَا“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The best era for the people is my era, then the era after that, and then the era after that. After them, there will come people who will be corpulent and will like corpulence, and they will give testimonies before being asked for them.
Hadith 12527
وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَيُّ النَّاسِ خَيْرٌ قَالَ ”الْقُرُونُ الَّذِي أَنَا فِيهِ ثُمَّ الثَّانِي ثُمَّ الثَّالِثُ“
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that a man asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "Which era is the best for the people?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "The era in which I am, then the one after that, and then the one after that."
Hadith 12528
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”يَأْتِي عَلَى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ يَغْزُو فِيهَا فِئَامٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ فَيُقَالُ هَلْ فِيكُمْ مَنْ صَاحَبَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَيَقُولُونَ نَعَمْ فَيُفْتَحُ لَهُمْ ثُمَّ يَغْزُو فِئَامٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ فَيُقَالُ هَلْ فِيكُمْ مَنْ صَاحَبَ مَنْ صَاحَبَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَيَقُولُونَ نَعَمْ فَيُفْتَحُ لَهُمْ ثُمَّ يَغْزُو فِئَامٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ فَيَقُولُونَ هَلْ فِيكُمْ مَنْ صَاحَبَ مَنْ صَاحَبَ أَصْحَابَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَيَقُولُونَ نَعَمْ فَيُفْتَحُ لَهُمْ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A time will come upon the people when they will participate in battle, and during that time it will be asked, "Is there any Companion among you?" They will reply, "Yes!" So they will be granted victory. After that, there will be another battle, and during that time it will be asked, "Is there any Tabi'i among you?" They will say, "Yes!" Thus, they too will be granted victory. After that, there will again be a battle among the people, and during that time it will be asked, "Is there any Tabi' al-Tabi'in among you?" They will say, "Yes!" So they too will be granted victory.
