Hadith 12419
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ نُجَيٍّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ سَارَ مَعَ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَكَانَ صَاحِبَ مِطْهَرَتِهِ فَلَمَّا حَاذَى نِينَوَى وَهُوَ مُنْطَلِقٌ إِلَى صِفِّينَ فَنَادَى عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ اصْبِرْ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ اصْبِرْ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بِشَطِّ الْفُرَاتِ قُلْتُ وَمَاذَا قَالَ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ وَعَيْنَاهُ تَفِيضَانِ قُلْتُ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ أَغْضَبَكَ أَحَدٌ مَا شَأْنُ عَيْنَيْكَ تَفِيضَانِ قَالَ ”بَلْ قَامَ مِنْ عِنْدِي جِبْرِيلُ قَبْلُ فَحَدَّثَنِي أَنَّ الْحُسَيْنَ يُقْتَلُ بِشَطِّ الْفُرَاتِ قَالَ فَقَالَ هَلْ لَكَ إِلَى أَنْ أُشِمَّكَ مِنْ تُرْبَتِهِ قَالَ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَمَدَّ يَدَهُ فَقَبَضَ قَبْضَةً مِنْ تُرَابٍ فَأَعْطَانِيهَا فَلَمْ أَمْلِكْ عَيْنَيَّ أَنْ فَاضَتَا“
Abdullah bin Naji narrates from his father that he was walking with Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), carrying a vessel of water for purification. When they reached the place of Nainawa on their way to Siffin, Sayyiduna Ali called out: "Abu Abdullah! Stop, stop by the bank of the Euphrates River." I asked: "What is here?" He replied: "One day I went to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and his eyes were filled with tears. I asked: 'O Messenger of Allah! Has someone angered you? Why are your eyes shedding tears?' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Before you arrived, Jibreel Amin had just left me. He informed me that Husayn will be killed by the bank of the Euphrates River.' Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'He (Jibreel) asked: Shall I let you smell the fragrance of its soil?' I said: 'Yes.' So he stretched out his hand, took a handful of soil, and gave it to me. I could not control myself and began to weep."
Hadith 12420
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ مَلَكَ الْمَطَرِ اسْتَأْذَنَ رَبَّهُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَذِنَ لَهُ فَقَالَ لِأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ امْلِكِي عَلَيْنَا الْبَابَ لَا يَدْخُلْ عَلَيْنَا أَحَدٌ قَالَ وَجَاءَ الْحُسَيْنُ لِيَدْخُلَ فَمَنَعَتْهُ فَوَثَبَ فَدَخَلَ فَجَعَلَ يَقْعُدُ عَلَى ظَهْرِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَى مَنْكِبِهِ وَعَلَى عَاتِقِهِ قَالَ فَقَالَ الْمَلَكُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتُحِبُّهُ قَالَ ”نَعَمْ“ قَالَ أَمَا إِنَّ أُمَّتَكَ سَتَقْتُلُهُ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ أَرَيْتُكَ الْمَكَانَ الَّذِي يُقْتَلُ فِيهِ فَضَرَبَ بِيَدِهِ فَجَاءَ بِطِينَةٍ حَمْرَاءَ فَأَخَذَتْهَا أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ فَصَرَّتْهَا فِي خِمَارِهَا قَالَ قَالَ ثَابِتٌ بَلَغَنَا أَنَّهَا كَرْبَلَاءُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the angel of rain sought permission from Allah Almighty to come to the presence of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Allah granted him permission. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her): "Stay near the door and do not let anyone come to us." Sayyiduna Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) came and was about to enter. Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) stopped him, but he jumped inside and began to sit on the blessed back and shoulder of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The angel said: "Do you love him?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Yes." The angel said: "Your Ummah will kill him. If you wish, I can show you the place where he will be killed." The angel struck his hand and brought red soil. Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) took that soil and placed it in her scarf. Thabit says: "We have received the news that the place of his killing is the land of Karbala."
Hadith 12421
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَوْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ وَكِيعٌ شَكَّ هُوَ يَعْنِي عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ سَعِيدٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِإِحْدَاهُمَا ”لَقَدْ دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ الْبَيْتَ مَلَكٌ لَمْ يَدْخُلْ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَهَا فَقَالَ لِي إِنَّ ابْنَكَ هَذَا حُسَيْنٌ مَقْتُولٌ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ أَرَيْتُكَ مِنْ تُرْبَةِ الْأَرْضِ الَّتِي يُقْتَلُ بِهَا قَالَ فَأَخْرَجَ تُرْبَةً حَمْرَاءَ“
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) or Sayyida Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said to her: An angel came to me in the house, who had never come to me before, and he informed me that this son of yours, Husayn, will be killed. If you wish, I can show you the soil of the land where he will be killed. Then he showed red soil.
