It is narrated from Saeed bin Musayyib (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). Sayyidah (may Allah be pleased with her) said to him: "Are you not afraid that I might set someone to lie in wait for you who would kill you?" He said: "You would not do such a thing, because I am in the center of protection and security, and I have heard from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: 'Faith prevents one from killing someone unknowingly.' How is my attitude towards you and your needs?" Sayyidah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "It is fine." Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Then leave my matters and those of these people until we meet Allah, the Exalted."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said from the pulpit: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The part of the world that remains now is nothing but hardships and tribulations, and the example of your deeds is like that of a vessel; if its upper part is clean, then the lower part will also be clean, and if the upper part is impure, then the lower part will also be impure.

Abu Amir Abdullah bin Lahi narrates, he says: We went for Hajj in the company of Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him). When we reached Makkah Mukarramah, Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up after performing the Zuhr prayer and said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said that the People of the Book were divided into the best of groups regarding their religion, and this Ummah will be divided into seventy-three groups, meaning these people will follow their desires. All except one group will be consigned to Hell, and that one group is the Jama'ah. And in my Ummah, there will also arise such people in whom desires will penetrate just as the effects of a rabid dog's bite spread throughout the patient's body; not a single vein or joint remains safe from its effect.)) O Arabs! By Allah, the religion and message your Prophet brought to you—if you do not act upon it, then who else will?
