It is narrated from Zuhair bin Aqmar that after the martyrdom of Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), one day Sayyiduna Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was delivering a sermon when a man from Banu Asad stood up and said: I have seen that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had seated him in his lap and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever loves me should also love him. Those who are present here should convey this message to those who are not present. If it were not for this emphasis from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I would not have narrated this hadith to you.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was leading the people in prayer, and Sayyiduna Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) would climb onto the back of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while jumping. He did this several times. In one narration, it is mentioned that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would gently stand up so that he would not fall. Seeing this scene, the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said: By Allah! The way you treat him, you do not treat anyone else like that. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This son of mine is a leader; Allah Almighty will bring reconciliation between two great groups of Muslims through him. Hasan al-Basri said: By Allah, by Allah, not even the amount of blood that fills a vial was shed during his caliphate.
