Hadith 12360
عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ إِنِّي دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَيْسَ عِنْدَهُ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا عَائِشَةُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا فَقَالَ ”يَا ابْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ كَيْفَ أَنْتَ وَقَوْمَ كَذَا وَكَذَا“ قَالَ قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ ”قَوْمٌ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ الْمَشْرِقِ يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ لَا يُجَاوِزُ تَرَاقِيَهُمْ يَمْرُقُونَ مِنَ الدِّينِ مَرُوقَ السَّهْمِ مِنَ الرَّمِيَّةِ فَمِنْهُمْ رَجُلٌ مُخْدَجُ الْيَدِ كَأَنَّ يَدَيْهِ ثَدْيُ حَبَشِيَّةٍ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I presented myself in the service of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), at that time there was no one else with him except Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). He said: O Ibn Abi Talib! What will become of you and such-and-such people? I said: Allah and His Messenger know best. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Some people will emerge from the east, they will recite the Qur'an, but it will not go below their throats, they will go out of the religion just as an arrow swiftly passes through the prey, among them there will be a man with a defective hand, it will seem as if his hand is like the breast of an Abyssinian woman.
Hadith 12361
عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ ذُكِرَ الْخَوَارِجُ فَقَالَ فِيهِمْ مُخْدَجُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مُودَنُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مُثَدَّنُ الْيَدِ لَوْلَا أَنْ تَبْطَرُوا لَحَدَّثْتُكُمْ بِمَا وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ يَقْتُلُونَهُمْ عَلَى لِسَانِ مُحَمَّدٍ قُلْتُ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Khawarij were mentioned, he said: Among them there will be a man with a defective hand. If I did not fear that you would fall into pride and arrogance, I would have told you what Allah Almighty has promised, through the tongue of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), for those who kill these Khawarij. I said: Did you really hear this from Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)? He replied: Yes, by the Lord of the Ka'bah! Yes, by the Lord of the Ka'bah! Yes, by the Lord of the Ka'bah!
Hadith 12362
وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ آخَرَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ذَكَرَ أَهْلَ النَّهْرَوَانِ فَقَالَ فِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ مُودَنُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مَثْدُونُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مُخْدَجُ الْيَدِ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ
(Second chain) Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) mentioned the people of Nahrawan and said: Among them there will be a man with a defective hand, … then he narrated a similar hadith.
Hadith 12363
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا حَلَفَ وَاجْتَهَدَ فِي الْيَمِينِ قَالَ ”لَا وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ بِيَدِهِ لَيَخْرُجَنَّ قَوْمٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِي تُحَقِّرُونَ أَعْمَالَكُمْ مَعَ أَعْمَالِهِمْ يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ لَا يُجَاوِزُ تَرَاقِيَهُمْ يَمْرُقُونَ مِنَ الْإِسْلَامِ كَمَا يَمْرُقُ السَّهْمُ مِنَ الرَّمِيَّةِ“ قَالُوا فَهَلْ مِنْ عَلَامَةٍ يُعْرَفُونَ بِهَا قَالَ ”فِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ ذُو يُدَيَّةٍ أَوْ ثُدَيَّةٍ مُحَلِّقِي رُءُوسِهِمْ“ قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ فَحَدَّثَنِي عِشْرُونَ أَوْ بِضْعٌ وَعِشْرُونَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ وَلِيَ قَتْلَهُمْ قَالَ فَرَأَيْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ بَعْدَمَا كَبِرَ وَيَدَاهُ تَرْتَعِشُ يَقُولُ قِتَالُهُمْ أَحَلُّ عِنْدِي مِنْ قِتَالِ عِدَّتِهِمْ مِنَ التُّرْكِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would take a very strong oath, he would say: "By Him in Whose hand is the life of Abu al-Qasim! There will arise among my Ummah people such that you will consider your own deeds insignificant compared to theirs. They will recite the Qur'an, but the Qur'an will not go below their throats. They will go out of the religion just as an arrow passes cleanly through the prey." The noble Companions said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), please describe some of their signs for us so that we may recognize them." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "One of them will have a hand like a woman's breast, and their heads will be shaved." Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "More than twenty Companions narrated to me that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) killed them." It is narrated from Asim that I saw Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him); he had become old and his hands trembled. He used to say: "In my view, killing these Khawarij is more virtuous and important than fighting the Turks to the same extent."
Hadith 12364
عَنْ يَزِيدَ الْفَقِيرِ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ إِنَّ مِنَّا رِجَالًا هُمْ أَقْرَؤُنَا لِلْقُرْآنِ وَأَكْثَرُنَا صَلَاةً وَأَوْصَلُنَا لِلرَّحِمِ وَأَكْثَرُنَا صَوْمًا خَرَجُوا عَلَيْنَا بِأَسْيَافِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ ”يَخْرُجُ قَوْمٌ يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ لَا يُجَاوِزُ حَنَاجِرَهُمْ يَمْرُقُونَ مِنَ الدِّينِ كَمَا يَمْرُقُ السَّهْمُ مِنَ الرَّمِيَّةِ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: Some of us used to recite the Qur'an a lot, perform prayers, excel in maintaining ties of kinship, and fast, and those very people drew their swords and rose against us. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said about them: Some people will appear who will recite the Qur'an, but the Qur'an will not go beyond their throats. They will go out of the religion just as an arrow swiftly passes through its prey.
Hadith 12365
عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى أَبِي سَعِيدٍ فَقَالَ هَلْ سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَذْكُرُ فِي الْحَرُورِيَّةِ شَيْئًا قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَذْكُرُ قَوْمًا يَتَعَمَّقُونَ فِي الدِّينِ يَحْقِرُ أَحَدُكُمْ صَلَاتَهُ عِنْدَ صَلَاتِهِمْ وَصَوْمَهُ عِنْدَ صَوْمِهِمْ يَمْرُقُونَ مِنَ الدِّينِ كَمَا يَمْرُقُ السَّهْمُ مِنَ الرَّمِيَّةِ أَخَذَ سَهْمَهُ فَنَظَرَ فِي نَصْلِهِ فَلَمْ يَرَ شَيْئًا ثُمَّ نَظَرَ فِي رُصَافِهِ فَلَمْ يَرَ شَيْئًا ثُمَّ نَظَرَ فِي قِدْحَتِهِ فَلَمْ يَرَ شَيْئًا ثُمَّ نَظَرَ فِي الْقُذَذِ فَتَمَارَى هَلْ يَرَى شَيْئًا أَمْ لَا
It is narrated from Abu Salamah that a man came to Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "Have you heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say anything about the Haruriyyah, that is, the Khawarij?" He said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mention them, and he said that these people will go to great lengths and depths in religion, and they will be so pious that you will consider your own prayers and fasts insignificant compared to theirs. But they will exit the religion as swiftly as an arrow passes through its prey, such that the hunter, upon picking up his arrow and examining it, finds no trace on it. Then he inspects its tip, but finds no sign; then he looks at the shaft, but sees no trace there either; then he carefully examines the feathers, and he remains uncertain whether there is any trace or not.
Hadith 12366
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”يَفْتَرِقُ أُمَّتِي فِرْقَتَيْنِ فَيَتَمَرَّقُ بَيْنَهُمَا مَارِقَةٌ يَقْتُلُهَا أَوْلَى الطَّائِفَتَيْنِ بِالْحَقِّ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: My Ummah will be divided into two groups, then a third group will emerge among them. The group that is closer to the truth from the two will kill this group.
Hadith 12367
وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ آخَرَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ ”لَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يَقْتَتِلَ فِئَتَانِ عَظِيمَتَانِ دَعْوَاهُمَا وَاحِدَةٌ تَمْرُقُ بَيْنَهُمَا مَارِقَةٌ يَقْتُلُهَا أَوْلَاهُمَا بِالْحَقِّ“
(Second chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Hour will not be established until two great groups fight each other, while both will claim the same thing. Then from between them a third group will emerge; the one among the two great groups that is closer to the truth will kill this group.
Hadith 12368
عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَكَرَ قَوْمًا يَكُونُونَ فِي أُمَّتِهِ يَخْرُجُونَ فِي فِرْقَةٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ سِيمَاهُمُ التَّحْلِيقُ هُمْ شَرُّ الْخَلْقِ أَوْ مِنْ شَرِّ الْخَلْقِ يَقْتُلُهُمْ أَدْنَى الطَّائِفَتَيْنِ مِنَ الْحَقِّ قَالَ فَضَرَبَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَهُمْ مَثَلًا أَوْ قَالَ قَوْلًا الرَّجُلُ يَرْمِي الرَّمِيَّةَ أَوْ قَالَ الْغَرَضَ فَيَنْظُرُ فِي النَّصْلِ فَلَا يَرَى بَصِيرَةً وَيَنْظُرُ فِي النَّضِيِّ فَلَا يَرَى بَصِيرَةً وَيَنْظُرُ فِي الْفُوقِ فَلَا يَرَى بَصِيرَةً قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ وَأَنْتُمْ قَتَلْتُمُوهُمْ يَا أَهْلَ الْعِرَاقِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) mentioned some people from his Ummah who will appear at the time of division and discord in the Ummah. Their sign will be that they will shave their heads. They are the worst of creation. The group that is closer to the truth will kill them. On this occasion, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) presented an example: a man shoots an arrow at game (the arrow passes through the blood and dung of the prey), but he sees nothing on the tip of the arrow. He sees no effect on its shaft. There is no mark on its feathers. (In the same way, reciting the Noble Qur'an will have no effect on them.)
Hadith 12369
وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ ”الْخَوَارِجُ هُمْ كِلَابُ النَّارِ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Khawarij are the dogs of Hell.
Hadith 12370
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ الشَّحَّامُ حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ وَسَأَلَهُ هَلْ سَمِعْتَ فِي الْخَوَارِجِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ وَالِدِي أَبَا بَكْرَةَ يَقُولُ عَنْ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”أَلَا إِنَّهُ سَيَخْرُجُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي أَقْوَامٌ أَشِدَّاءُ أَحِدَّاءُ ذَلِقَةٌ أَلْسِنَتُهُمْ بِالْقُرْآنِ لَا يُجَاوِزُ تَرَاقِيَهُمْ أَلَا فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُمْ فَأَنِيمُوهُمْ ثُمَّ إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُمْ فَأَنِيمُوهُمْ فَالْمَأْجُورُ قَاتِلُهُمْ“
It is narrated from Uthman Shahham, he says: Muslim bin Abi Bakrah narrated to us that he asked him whether he had heard any hadith regarding the Khawarij? He said: I heard my father, Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him), say that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Beware! Soon there will arise from my Ummah people who will be harsh and severe in religious matters, their tongues will be very skilled with the Qur'an, but it will not go below their collarbones. When you see them, kill them. Then I say again, when you see them, kill them. The one who kills them will be deserving of reward.
Hadith 12371
عَنْ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ أَنَّ رَجُلًا وُلِدَ لَهُ غُلَامٌ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخَذَ بِبَشَرَةِ وَجْهِهِ وَدَعَا لَهُ بِالْبَرَكَةِ قَالَ فَنَبَتَتْ شَعَرَةٌ فِي جَبْهَتِهِ كَهَيْئَةِ الْقَوْسِ وَشَبَّ الْغُلَامُ فَلَمَّا كَانَ زَمَنُ الْخَوَارِجِ أَحَبَّهُمْ فَسَقَطَتِ الشَّعَرَةُ عَنْ جَبْهَتِهِ فَأَخَذَهُ أَبُوهُ فَقَيَّدَهُ وَحَبَسَهُ مَخَافَةَ أَنْ يَلْحَقَ بِهِمْ قَالَ فَدَخَلْنَا عَلَيْهِ فَوَعَظْنَاهُ وَقُلْنَا لَهُ فِيمَا نَقُولُ أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ بَرَكَةَ دَعْوَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ وَقَعَتْ عَنْ جَبْهَتِكَ فَمَا زِلْنَا بِهِ حَتَّى رَجَعَ عَنْ رَأْيِهِمْ فَرَدَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ الشَّعَرَةَ بَعْدُ فِي جَبْهَتِهِ وَتَابَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Tufail (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), a son was born to a man. He brought the child to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took hold of the skin of the child’s face and prayed for blessings for him. As a result, hair grew on the child’s forehead in the shape of a bow, and the child grew up. When the era of the Khawarij came, the child inclined towards them and began to love them, so the hair on his face fell off. Seeing this, his father caught him, imprisoned him, and kept him confined, fearing that he might fully join them. Sayyiduna Abu Tufail (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We went to him and gave him advice and admonition, and in our words we also said to him, “Do you not see that the blessing of the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has fallen from your forehead?” We continued to admonish him until he turned away from the opinion of the Khawarij. Allah Almighty accepted his repentance, and after that, hair grew again on his forehead.
