It is narrated from Abu Wa'il that when Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) sent Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) towards Kufa so that they could encourage the people to go out for battle, Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) delivered a sermon and said: I know that Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) is the wife of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in this world and the Hereafter, but Allah Almighty has tested you at this moment as to whether you support Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) or Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her).

It is narrated from Qais bin Abad, he says: I requested Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) to clarify regarding this battle of yours, whether this is your own opinion and personal stance, because such an opinion can be either wrong or right, or is it a command given to you people from Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)? He said: Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) did not give us any separate command that was not for the general people. He also said: However, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did say that there will be twelve hypocrites in my Ummah, they will neither enter Paradise nor will they smell its fragrance, until a camel enters into the eye of a needle. For eight of them, a single boil will be enough, it will be like a flame of fire, which will rise on their shoulders and appear on their chests.

(Second chain) Qais says: I said to Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him): Regarding what you people are saying about Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), just tell me whether this is your own opinion or did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) give you any instructions about this? He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not give us any special command that was not given to the general people, but Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) has narrated to me that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Among my companions there will be twelve hypocrites, eight of whom will never enter Paradise until a camel passes through the eye of a needle.

It is narrated from Makharraq, he says: On the day of the Battle of Jamal, I met Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was urinating in a horn. I said: I want to fight alongside you, and in this way, I will stay with you. But he said: You should fight while remaining under the flag of your own people, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to like that a man should fight while remaining under the flag of his own people.
