Hadith 12241
Umar bin Ibrahim Yashkari narrated from his mother, and she narrated from her mother, that she set out for the House of Allah to perform Hajj. In those days, the House of Allah had two doors. She says: When I completed my circumambulation (Tawaf), I went to Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: Your son was sending you greetings. What do you say about those people who are saying many things about Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him)? Lady (may Allah be pleased with her) said: May Allah curse those whom He curses. She repeated this three times. I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in such a state that his blessed thigh was touching the thigh of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), while I was wiping the sweat from the blessed forehead of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). At that time, revelation was descending upon him, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had married his two daughters, one after the other, to Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). Also, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: "Uthman! Write the revelation." Then she said: Allah grants such a high status in the presence of His Prophet only to a very close servant.

Hadith 12242
It is narrated from Abu Habibah that he entered the house in which Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) was besieged, and he heard that Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) was seeking permission from Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) to say something. When he granted permission, Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up, praised and glorified Allah Almighty, and then said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying, "After me, you will encounter tribulations and disagreements." A man asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Who will be ours at that time?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You must adhere to this trustworthy one and his companions." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was indicating towards Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) as he said this.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned a tribulation. During that time, a man passed by there. Upon seeing him, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In those days, this man, who is passing by covered in a cloth, will be killed in a state of oppression. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When I went and saw, that man was Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Hawalah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I presented myself in the service of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), at that time he was sitting in the shade of a mound, a scribe was sitting beside him and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was dictating something to him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Ibn Hawalah! Shall I have your name written as well? I said: I do not know what Allah and His Messenger have chosen for me in this matter. After that, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) turned away from me. Ismail, the narrator, said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Ibn Hawalah! Shall we register you as well? I said: O Messenger of Allah! I do not know in what matter I am being registered. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) turned away from me. In another narration, it is mentioned: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Ibn Hawalah! Shall we write your name as well? I said: O Messenger of Allah! I do not know in what matter the names are being written. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) turned to his scribe and continued dictating to him. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Ibn Hawalah! Shall we write your name as well? I said: I do not know what Allah and His Messenger are choosing for me. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) turned away from me and continued dictating to his scribe. Then when I looked, I saw that the name of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was written in that book. I thought in my heart: The name of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) can only be written in matters of goodness. Meanwhile, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) again said to me: O Ibn Hawalah! Shall we write your name as well? I said: Yes. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Ibn Hawalah! What will you do in that tribulation which will be like the horns of a cow (very severe and full of difficulties) and will spread throughout the corners of the earth? I said: I do not know what Allah and His Messenger prefer for me. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Well, what will you do in that second tribulation which will occur after it, and (it will be so severe that) the first one will seem like a rabbit’s leap (very light and brief) in comparison? I said: I do not know what Allah and His Messenger prefer for me. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: At that time, follow that person. At that time, a man was walking and his back was towards us. I went, ran, and caught his shoulders and turned him towards the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! This man? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes. So he was Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him).

It is narrated from Jubair bin Nafeer, he says: After the martyrdom of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), we were in an army with Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Ka’b bin Murrah Bahzi (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said: If I had not heard one thing from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I would not have stood here. When Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) heard the name of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he made the people sit down. He said: Once we were present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by there. At that time, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In the future, a great tribulation will arise from the footsteps of this man; in those days, this person and his followers will be upon guidance. Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Ibn Hawalah Azdi (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up from near the pulpit and said: Did you yourself hear this hadith? He said: Yes. Sayyiduna Ibn Hawalah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By Allah! I was also present in that gathering; if I had known that someone in this army would confirm me, I would have been the first to narrate this matter.

It is narrated from Abu Qalabah, who says: When the incident of the martyrdom of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) occurred, some preachers stood up in Ilya and gave some statements. The last to stand was a companion named Sayyiduna Marrah bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said: If I had not heard a hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I would not have stood here. One day, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned a tribulation and described it as being near (meaning, he wanted to say that it would appear very soon). Meanwhile, a man passed by, wrapped in a cloth. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed towards him and said: In those days, he and his companions will be upon the truth. I went ahead, grabbed that man's shoulders, turned his face towards the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and said: O Messenger of Allah! Do you mean this man? He said: Yes. Thus, that was Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him).

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Shaqiq, who says: Harami bin Harith and Usama bin Khuraim both narrated to me separately, and neither of them knew that the other had narrated to me. Both of them participated in the battle. They both narrated from Sayyiduna Murrah bin Ka’b al-Bahzi, who said: We were with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) on one of the roads of Madinah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: What will be your condition during that tribulation which will spread over the earth like the horns of a cow? The Companions asked: O Messenger of Allah! What should we do at that time? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You must adhere to that man and his companions. Sayyiduna Murrah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I quickly went towards that man until I became tired, but eventually I found him. It is narrated from Abdullah bin Adi bin Khiyar that Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: Nephew! Did you meet the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? I said: No, but the knowledge and certainty from him (peace and blessings be upon him) has reached me with such clarity as if something reaches a veiled woman even while she is behind her veil. Then he delivered a sermon, testified to the two declarations of faith, and then said: As for what follows! Surely Allah Almighty sent Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) with the truth, and I was among those who accepted the word of Allah and His Messenger, and I believed in the religion with which Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent. Then I performed two migrations (one migration to Abyssinia and the second migration to Madinah), and I also had the honor of being the son-in-law of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and I pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). By Allah! I never disobeyed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), nor did I ever betray him, until Allah Almighty caused him to pass away.
