Hadith 12198
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I was sleeping when a bowl of milk was brought to me. I drank from it, and then I gave the remainder to Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him). The Companions said: O Messenger of Allah! How did you interpret it? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Knowledge.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: I was sleeping when I saw (in a dream) that I was standing by my reservoir, drawing water and giving it to people to drink. Then Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, came to me and, to give me relief, took the bucket from my hand. He drew one or two buckets, but there was some weakness in his action. After that, Ibn Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, took the bucket from me—may Allah forgive him—and he kept drawing water continuously until all the people drank their fill and went back, and the reservoir was overflowing.

Hadith 12200
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Tufail (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Just as a sleeping person sees a dream, in the same way I saw that it was as if I was drawing buckets of water and irrigating the earth. Some black and some brownish goats came to me. In the meantime, Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived; he drew one or two buckets, but there was weakness in his drawing. May Allah forgive him. After that, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived and he began to draw buckets. That bucket became a very large bucket. He drew water and filled the reservoir and gave plenty to those who came. I have not seen any young man draw buckets better than Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Then I interpreted this dream in such a way that the black goats refer to the Arabs and the brownish goats refer to the non-Arabs.

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I saw people in a dream, they were coming before me, they were wearing shirts, some shirts reached up to their chests and some below that. When Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) passed before me, his shirt (because of its length) was dragging on the ground. The companions asked: O Messenger of Allah! How did you interpret this? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Religion.

Sahl bin Hunaif narrates from a companion that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: I was asleep when I saw people being presented before me, and they were wearing shirts. Some shirts reached up to the chest, and some were even lower than that. Then Umar was presented before me, and his shirt was so long that he was dragging it. The companions asked: O Messenger of Allah! How did you interpret this? The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Religion.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, one day said to his companions: "Who among you has attended a funeral today?" Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "Yes, I have." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Who among you has visited a sick person today?" Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "Yes, I have." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Who among you has fasted today?" Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "Yes, I have." Then the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Paradise has become obligatory, indeed it has become obligatory."

It is narrated from Abu Sinan Duwali that he went to Sayyiduna Umar ibn Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), while a group of the earliest emigrants was sitting with him. He sent a message and had a box of perfume brought, which had been brought from a fortress in Iraq. There was a ring in it. One of his sons brought it and put it in his mouth. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) took it out of his mouth. After that, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) began to weep. Someone among those present said to him: Why are you weeping, when Allah has granted you victory and has cooled your eyes by giving you dominance over the enemy? Sayyiduna Umar said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say that when Allah expands the world for a servant, He places enmity and hatred among those people until the Day of Resurrection. And I fear this matter.
