Hadith 12191
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I entered Paradise and saw there a palace made of gold. I inquired, "Whose palace is this?" They said, "It is for a young man from the Quraysh." I thought that perhaps it was meant for me, but they informed me that it belongs to Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I was walking in Paradise when I saw a palace. I asked, "O Jibreel! Whose is this?" while I was hoping that it would be mine. He said, "It is Umar's." Then I walked a little further and saw a palace even more beautiful than the first. I asked, "Jibreel! Whose is this?" while I was expecting that it would be mine. He informed me that it is Umar's (may Allah be pleased with him), and in it are wide-eyed maidens (houris) as well. O Umar! If your sense of honor had not prevented me, I would have entered it. Upon hearing this, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) began to weep and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I cannot be possessive over you."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Barzah Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) in the morning and said to him: O Bilal! By virtue of which deed are you preceding me in Paradise? Whenever I entered Paradise, I heard the sound of your footsteps ahead of me. Last night, when I entered Paradise, I heard your same voice, then I reached a lofty palace made of gold. I inquired: Whose palace is this? They said: It belongs to an Arab man. I said: I am also an Arab, whose palace is this? They informed me that it is for a man from the Ummah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). I said: I am Muhammad, tell me whose palace this is? They said: It is Umar ibn al-Khattab’s. Thereafter, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Umar! If it were not for your sense of honor, I would have entered the palace. Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! I cannot have any sense of honor over you. Sayyiduna Abu Barzah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him): By virtue of which deed are you preceding me in Paradise? He replied: Whenever I become impure, I perform ablution and offer two rak‘ahs (of Tahiyyat al-Wudu). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is because of this deed.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I saw myself entering Paradise, and there I saw in front of me the wife of Abu Talhah, Rumaisa. Then I heard a sound in front of me and said: O Jibreel! Who is this? He said: This is Bilal. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: And I saw a white palace, in whose courtyard there was a young girl. I asked Jibreel: Whose palace is this? He replied that it is Umar bin Khattab’s (may Allah be pleased with him). I intended to enter it and look at it, but I remembered, Umar, your sense of honor. Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! May my parents be sacrificed for you, could I ever feel jealousy towards you?

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: I was sleeping, and in a dream I saw myself in Paradise. A woman was performing ablution beside a palace. I asked, "Whose palace is this?" They said, "It belongs to Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him." Umar! (I wanted to enter it but) I remembered your sense of honor, so I turned back. When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was relating this, Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, was also sitting with the people in your presence. When he heard this from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, he began to weep and said: O Messenger of Allah! May my father be sacrificed for you, could I ever feel any sense of honor over you?
