Hadith 12187
وَعَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ ”اللَّهُمَّ أَعِزَّ الْإِسْلَامَ بِأَحَبِّ هَذَيْنِ الرَّجُلَيْنِ إِلَيْكَ بِأَبِي جَهْلٍ أَوْ بِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ فَكَانَ أَحَبَّهُمَا إِلَى اللَّهِ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: O Allah! Grant honor to Islam through whichever of Abu Jahl and Umar bin Khattab is more beloved to You. Allah Almighty found Umar bin Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, to be more beloved among them.
Hadith 12188
وَعَنْ أَبِي نَوْفَلٍ قَالَ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ إِذَا ذُكِرَ الصَّالِحُونَ فَحَيَّ هَلًا بِعُمَرَ
It is narrated from Abu Nofal that Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: When the righteous are mentioned, then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) is also worthy of being remembered.
Hadith 12189
عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ نُسَيٍّ عَنْ غُضَيْفِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ أَنَّهُ مَرَّ بِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ فَقَالَ نِعْمَ الْفَتَى غُضَيْفٌ فَلَقِيَهُ أَبُو ذَرٍّ فَقَالَ أَيْ أُخَيَّ اسْتَغْفِرْ لِي قَالَ أَنْتَ صَاحِبُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنْتَ أَحَقُّ أَنْ تَسْتَغْفِرَ لِي فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ يَقُولُ نِعْمَ الْفَتَى غُضَيْفٌ وَقَدْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ضَرَبَ بِالْحَقِّ عَلَى لِسَانِ عُمَرَ وَقَلْبِهِ“ قَالَ عَفَّانُ عَلَى لِسَانِ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ بِهِ
It is narrated from Ghadaif bin Harith that he passed by Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said, "Ghadaif! He is a good man." Then Ghadaif met Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), so Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: "My brother! Pray for my forgiveness." Ghadaif said: "You are a companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), you are more deserving to pray for me." He said: "I heard Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) saying that Ghadaif is a good man, while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said that Allah Almighty has made the truth flow on Umar's (may Allah be pleased with him) heart and tongue."
Hadith 12190
عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ قَالَ جَلَسْتُ إِلَى شَيْبَةَ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ فِي هَذَا الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَالَ جَلَسَ إِلَيَّ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ مَجْلِسَكَ هَذَا فَقَالَ لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ لَا أَدَعَ فِيهَا صَفْرَاءَ وَلَا بَيْضَاءَ إِلَّا قَسَمْتُهَا بَيْنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ قَالَ قُلْتُ مَا أَنْتَ بِفَاعِلٍ قَالَ لِمَ قُلْتُ لَمْ يَفْعَلْهُ صَاحِبَاكَ قَالَ هُمَا الْمَرْآنِ يُقْتَدَى بِهِمَا
It is narrated from Abu Wa'il, he says: I was sitting in the Prophet's Mosque with Shaibah bin Uthman when Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) came and sat near me just as you are sitting. He said: I wish to distribute all the gold and silver inside the Ka'bah among the Muslims. I said: You will not do this. He said: Why? I said: This was not done by your two companions before you. Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Both of them are personalities who should be followed.
