Hadith 11962
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, who says: When I was coming to the service of the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, I recited this verse on the way: "O night, how long and arduous you are! Indeed, it is a wonder that you have delivered me from the abode of disbelief." Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, says: On the way, one of my slaves ran away from me. I went to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, accepted Islam, and pledged allegiance to him. While I was sitting in his service, that slave also arrived. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me: "Abu Hurairah! This is your slave." I said: "He is for the sake of Allah Almighty's pleasure," and then he set him free.

Iraq narrates that Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Madinah Munawwarah with members of his tribe. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in Khaybar at that time. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had appointed Sayyiduna Siba’ bin ‘Arfatah as his deputy in Madinah Munawwarah. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I reached Sayyiduna Siba’ (may Allah be pleased with him) and he was reciting {کہیعص} in the first rak’ah of the morning prayer and Surah Mutaffifin in the second rak’ah. I said in my heart: Woe and destruction to that person who, when he takes for himself, takes in full measure, and when he gives to others, gives less measure. When he finished the prayer, he gave us some provisions, until we reached Khaybar. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke to the noble companions and included us in the spoils of war.

It is narrated from Abu Nazrah, who narrates from a member of the Banu Tufawah tribe, that I stayed as a guest with Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him). Among the companions, I did not find anyone more hospitable than him. I was staying with him while he was sitting on his cot, and his dark-skinned slave girl was below. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) had a pouch containing pebbles and date stones. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) kept reciting "Subhan Allah, Subhan Allah," and when the pouch became empty, he would throw it towards the slave girl, and she would gather all the pebbles and date stones into the pouch and hand it back to him. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me: Shall I not tell you an incident between myself and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? I said: Yes, please tell me. He said: I had a fever and I was in the mosque of Madinah, i.e., Masjid Nabawi, when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque and said: Does anyone have knowledge about the young man from Daws, i.e., Abu Hurairah? Does anyone have knowledge about the young man from Daws? (Where is he?) Someone informed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! Look, he is lying in a corner of the mosque suffering from fever. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came and placed his blessed hand upon me and spoke to me with loving words, until I stood up. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) walked to his place of prayer. That day, there were two rows of men and one row of women, or two rows of women and one row of men, with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) turned to the people and said: If Satan causes me to forget something in prayer, then the men should say "Subhan Allah," and the women should strike one hand upon the other to make a sound (so that I may be alerted to my mistake or forgetfulness). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led the prayer and did not forget anything in the prayer. After completing the prayer and turning in greeting, he faced the people and said: Remain seated in your places. Are there any among you who, after going to their families, closing the door, and hanging the curtains, (after fulfilling their marital rights), go out and tell people: I did this and that with my wife? Upon hearing this, the companions remained silent. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) turned to the women and said: Is there any woman among you who does such things? Then a young girl with a prominent chest, sitting on one knee, raised her neck a little to look at the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) so that he would notice her and listen to her. She said: By Allah! Men do such things and women do as well. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do you know what the example is of those who do such things? The example of those who do such things is like that of a devil and a she-devil who meet on the road and fulfill their desires with each other in public. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) further said: Beware! No man should lie down with another man or woman under one garment, nor should any woman lie down with a man or woman under one garment, except for a father and his son. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned a third thing as well, which I have forgotten. Beware! The fragrance of men should be such that it has only scent and no color, and the fragrance of women should be such that it has color but no scent.

It is narrated from Abu Kathir that Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated to us, saying: By Allah! Allah has not created any believer who has merely heard about me, even if he has not seen me, except that he loves me. Abu Kathir says: I asked him, “Abu Hurairah! How do you know that every believer loves you?” He said: My mother was a polytheist woman. I used to invite her to Islam, but she would refuse to accept my invitation. One day, I invited her to Islam, and she said such things about the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that I absolutely disliked. I went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) crying and said: O Messenger of Allah! I used to invite my mother to Islam, but she would refuse to accept my invitation. Today, I invited her to Islam, and she said such unpleasant things about you that I absolutely disliked. Please pray to Allah to grant guidance to my mother. (So the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, prayed.) I ran towards my mother to give her the glad tidings of the Messenger of Allah’s (peace and blessings be upon him) supplication. When I reached the door, it was closed from inside. I heard the sound of water falling and also the sound of shoes. From inside, my mother said: Abu Hurairah! Wait a little. After a while, she opened the door. She had put on her shirt and, even before covering her head, she exclaimed: “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.” Just as a short while ago I had come to you crying out of grief, now, out of intense joy, I came to you crying and said: O Messenger of Allah! Congratulations, Allah has accepted your supplication and has granted guidance to the mother of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him). I said: O Messenger of Allah! Pray to Allah that He makes me and my mother beloved in the eyes of all His believing servants, and makes all the believers beloved to us. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed: O Allah! Make this servant of Yours (Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him) and his mother beloved to all Your believing servants, and make all the believers beloved to both of them. By the blessing of this supplication, now every believer who hears about me, even if he has not seen me or my mother, loves me.
Hadith 11966
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Who is there who, after hearing one, two, three, four, or five matters from the obligations of Allah, ties them in the corner of his sheet, then acquires knowledge of these matters himself and also teaches them to others? Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I submitted, O Messenger of Allah! I am present for this task. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Spread your cloth. So I spread my cloth, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) mentioned some matters and then said: Now gather up this cloth. So I gathered up my cloth and pressed it to my chest; I hope that after this, I will not forget any hadith I hear from you.

It is narrated from A‘raj that Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: You people object and say that Abu Hurairah narrates many ahadith from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Allah is witness, you say that the ahadith narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) are such that neither the Muhajirun narrate them nor the Ansar. (Now listen,) the reality is that my Muhajir brothers used to be busy in buying and selling in the markets, and my Ansari brothers used to be occupied with their agriculture and their wealth, etc., and I remained secluded and spent most of my time in the service of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). People, due to their work, would be absent from the gatherings of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and I would be present. They would forget the ahadith, but I would remember them. One day, during his discourse, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to us: Who is there who will spread his cloth, so that when I have finished my speech, he may gather it to himself, and by its blessing, he will never forget anything he has heard from me? So I spread my cloth, and then I pressed it to my chest. By Allah! Due to its blessing, I have not forgotten anything I heard from you. By Allah! If this verse had not been in the Book of Allah, I would never have narrated anything to you. Then he recited this verse: {اِنّ الّذینیَکْتُمُونَ مَآ اَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ الْبَیّنَاتِ وَالْھُدیٰ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا بَیَّنَّاہُ لِلنَّاسِ فِیْ الْکِتَابِ اُولٰئِکَ یَلْعَنُھُمُ اللّٰہُ وَیَلْعَنُھُمُ اللَّاعِنُوْنَ} … Indeed, those who conceal the clear proofs and guidance that We have revealed, after We have made it clear for the people in the Book, those are cursed by Allah and cursed by those who curse.

It is narrated from Abu Uthman Nahdi, he says: I stayed as a guest at the house of Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) for seven days. His routine was that he, his wife, and his servant would take turns staying awake in three parts of the night; one would keep praying, then he would wake the next, who would keep praying, then he would sleep and wake the third. I asked: Abu Hurairah! How do you keep your fasts? He said: I fast three days at the beginning of the month; if there is any reason, then these fasts are kept till the end of the month. Abu Uthman says: I heard Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) say that one day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed dates among his companions, and seven dates came to my share. One of them was a worthless date, yet it was the most beloved to me; it strengthened my teeth, (then I was able to chew it).
Hadith 11969
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, who says: My true friend, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me while describing: In this Ummah, an army will go towards Sindh and Hind. Then Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, used to say: If I find that army and participate in it and attain the rank of martyrdom, that is better; and if I am not martyred, but return, then I will become free Abu Hurairah—Allah Almighty will free me from the Fire.
