Hadith 11936
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of Uhud, Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) was standing in front of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) shooting arrows at the disbelievers, and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was standing behind him, taking him as a shield. Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) was a very skilled archer. When he would shoot an arrow, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would raise his head to see where the arrow landed, and Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) would proudly say: "O Messenger of Allah, may my parents be sacrificed for you! This is how archery is done. By Allah! No arrow will reach you; my neck is before you." Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) would put himself before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and say: "O Messenger of Allah! I am strong, so send me for your tasks and command me as you wish."
Hadith 11937
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: In the army, the voice of Abu Talhah alone is better than the voice of the whole group. During battle, Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) would kneel in front of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), scatter the arrows from his quiver, and say: O Messenger of Allah! My face is the shield for your face, and my life is sacrificed for you.
Hadith 11938
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) would take cover with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) behind the same shield, and Sayyiduna Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) was an excellent archer. When he would shoot an arrow, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would raise his neck to see where the arrow landed.
Hadith 11939
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him): Convey my greetings to your people; to the best of my knowledge, these people are chaste and patient.
Hadith 11940
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) used to fast frequently during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). But when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, after that he would only miss a fast due to travel or illness.
