It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said: I saw a dream in which it was as if I had a precious piece of silk in my hand, and wherever I pointed with it in Paradise, it would carry me along and take me there. My sister, Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyida Hafsa, may Allah be pleased with her, related this dream of mine to the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, so he said: Your brother Abdullah is a righteous and pious man.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), whenever anyone saw a dream, he would relate it to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I also wished that I would see a dream and relate it to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I was a young, unmarried man and used to sleep in the mosque during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I saw a dream as if two angels took hold of me and led me towards Hell. It was built like a well is built, and over it were two pillars (like those of a well). When I looked into it, I saw people in it whom I recognized. Out of fear, I began to say: "I seek refuge in Allah from the Fire, I seek refuge in Allah from the Fire." Then another angel met those two angels and said to me: "Do not be afraid." I related this dream to my sister, Sayyida Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her). When she related this dream to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: "Abdullah is a good man, if only he would pray at night." Salim says: After that, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) would rarely sleep at night.

It is narrated from Mujahid that on the occasion of the conquest of Makkah, Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was present and he was twenty years old. He had a splendid horse and a rather heavy spear. Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) went to cut grass for his horse, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, Abdullah is a righteous man, indeed, Abdullah is a righteous man.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, that he presented himself before the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, at the time of the Battle of Uhud. At that time, he was fourteen years old, and the Prophet did not permit him to participate in the battle. Then he presented himself at the time of the Battle of the Trench, and at that time he was fifteen years old, so the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, permitted him to participate in the battle.
