It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a person who was called Dhu’l-Bijadayn, regarding him the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He is “awwāh.” That is, while remembering Allah, he would be overcome with emotion. That person used to recite the Noble Qur’an abundantly, remember Allah much, and supplicate in a loud voice.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn al-Adra’ (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: One night I was standing guard for the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he came out for some need. When he saw me, he took my hand. As we walked, we passed by a man who was praying and reciting (the Qur’an) aloud. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is possible that this is someone showing off. I said: O Messenger of Allah! He is performing prayer while reciting aloud. But the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) shook off my hand and then said: Even if you try, you cannot reach this station. Ibn al-Adra’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Once again, I was standing guard for the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at night, and he came out for some need. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took my hand, and as we walked, we passed by a man who was performing prayer while reciting aloud. I said: It is possible that this is someone showing off. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Never, rather he is a person who turns to Allah Most High very much. When I looked, it was Sayyiduna Abdullah Dhu’l-Bijadayn (may Allah be pleased with him).
