Hadith 11710
عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ جِيءَ بِي إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ جَاءَ بِي عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ وَزُهَيْرٌ فَجَعَلُوا يُثْنُونَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”لَا تُعْلِمُونِي بِهِ قَدْ كَانَ صَاحِبِي فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ“ قَالَ قَالَ نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَنِعْمَ الصَّاحِبُ كُنْتَ قَالَ فَقَالَ ”يَا سَائِبُ انْظُرْ أَخْلَاقَكَ الَّتِي كُنْتَ تَصْنَعُهَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَاجْعَلْهَا فِي الْإِسْلَامِ أَقْرِ الضَّيْفَ وَأَكْرِمِ الْيَتِيمَ وَأَحْسِنْ إِلَى جَارِكَ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: On the day of the conquest of Makkah, I was brought to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan and Sayyiduna Zubair brought me, and they began to praise and commend me before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You do not need to inform me about him, he was my companion before Islam. Sayyiduna Sa’ib (may Allah be pleased with him) also said: Your Messenger has spoken absolutely the truth, you (peace and blessings be upon him) were the best companion. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sa’ib! Observe your pre-Islamic morals and continue to adopt those morals in Islam as well; honor your guests, respect orphans, and continue to treat your neighbors with good conduct.
Hadith 11711
عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ أَبِي السَّائِبِ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُشَارِكُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَبْلَ الْإِسْلَامِ فِي التِّجَارَةِ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْفَتْحِ جَاءَهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”مَرْحَبًا بِأَخِي وَشَرِيكِي“ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ ”كُنْتَ شَرِيكِي وَكُنْتَ خَيْرَ شَرِيكٍ“) ”كَانَ لَا يُدَارِي وَلَا يُمَارِي يَا سَائِبُ قَدْ كُنْتَ تَعْمَلُ أَعْمَالًا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ لَا تُقْبَلُ مِنْكَ وَهِيَ الْيَوْمَ تُقْبَلُ مِنْكَ“ وَكَانَ ذَا سَلَفٍ وَصِلَةٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Abi Sa’ib (may Allah be pleased with him) that before Islam, he used to do business together with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When Makkah was conquered, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw him and said: I welcome my brother and business partner. In another narration, it is stated: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You were my business partner and the best partner; he never disagreed or argued in any matter. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Sa’ib! You used to do very good deeds in the time of ignorance, but they were not accepted by Allah Almighty; now such deeds from you will be accepted by Allah. Sayyiduna Sa’ib (may Allah be pleased with him) used to give people time in repayment and payment, and maintained ties of kinship.
