It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We set out in the company of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When we reached the mountain pass called Laft, Sayyiduna Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) appeared before us from the pass. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): Look, who is coming? Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: This is Sayyiduna Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He is the best servant of Allah.

It is narrated from Abdur Rahman bin Azhar, he says that Sayyiduna Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) was wounded that day and he was the leader of the cavalry detachment of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Ibn Azhar says: When Allah Almighty defeated the disbelievers and the Muslims returned to their tents, I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) coming while walking among the Muslims, saying: "Who will inform me about the tent of Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him)?" I hurried ahead of you, I was an adult in those days, and I kept calling out: "Is there anyone who can inform about the tent of Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him)?" Until we kept walking and entered his tent. I saw that Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) was reclining on the back part of his saddle. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came near him and looked at his wound. It is narrated from Zuhri, I think that Abdur Rahman bin Azhar also stated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) applied his blessed saliva to his wound.

Sayyiduna Amr ibn al-As (may Allah be pleased with him), while narrating the incident of his acceptance of Islam, says: Then, with the intention of accepting Islam, I set out to go to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). This incident took place a little before the conquest of Makkah. I met Khalid ibn al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him), who was coming from the direction of Makkah. I asked him: O Abu Sulayman! Where are you headed? He said: By Allah! Now the path has become clear and evident, and that man, meaning Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), is truly the Prophet of Allah. By Allah, I am going to accept Islam; how long will I keep wandering here and there? Hearing his words, I said: By Allah! I too have come with the intention of becoming a Muslim and accepting Islam. Thus, both of us reached the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyiduna Khalid ibn al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) stepped forward, accepted Islam, and pledged allegiance. At the end of this hadith, it is mentioned that one of the narrators of this hadith, Ibn Ishaq, stated that a very trustworthy person narrated to me that when Khalid ibn al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) and Amr ibn al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) became Muslim, Uthman ibn Talhah ibn Abi Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) also became Muslim along with them.
