It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), who says: My uncle, Sayyiduna Anas bin Nadr (may Allah be pleased with him), was not present with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the day of Badr. My name, Anas, was also given after this uncle. He was very grieved about this and used to say: Badr was the first battle in which the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was present, and I could not be present. If Allah Almighty gives me the opportunity of another battle, He will see what I do. Then he became afraid to make any further claim. Then Sayyiduna Anas bin Nadr participated with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the day of Uhud. Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) was coming forward. Sayyiduna Anas bin Nadr said to him: Abu Amr! Where are you going? He replied: Ah, I am sensing the fragrance of Paradise from the direction of Uhud. Then Sayyiduna Anas continued fighting until he was martyred. His body had more than eighty (80) wounds from swords, spears, and arrows. Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says: His sister, that is, my paternal aunt, Rubayyi’ bint Nadr (may Allah be pleased with her), recognized her brother by his fingertips, that this was her brother. Then this verse was revealed: {رِجَالٌصَدَقُوْامَاعَاہَدُوااللّٰہَعَلَیْہِفَمِنْہُمْمَنْقَضٰینَحْبَہُوَمِنْہُمْمَنْیَنْتَظِرُوَمَابَدَّلُوْاتَبْدِیلًا} … Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah; some of them have fulfilled their vow, and some of them are still waiting, but they have never changed in the least. The Companions believed that this verse was revealed about Sayyiduna Anas bin Nadr (may Allah be pleased with him) and his companions (such as Sayyiduna Hamza, may Allah be pleased with him).
