It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) by her servant Zikwan that when the Mother of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with her) was near death, her nephew Abdullah bin Abdur Rahman was sitting by her side when Zikwan sought permission for Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) to enter, saying: "Your best son, Ibn Abbas, seeks permission to come in." The Mother of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Keep me safe from Ibn Abbas and his praise and commendation." In another narration, the words are: "I fear that he will come and start praising and commending me." But Abdullah bin Abdur Rahman said to her: "He is a reciter of Allah's Book, a great jurist (scholar) of Allah's religion; allow him to come in so that he may greet you and bid you farewell as you depart from this world." So the Mother of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "If you wish, then let him in." Abdullah gave him permission to enter. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) came in, greeted her, sat down, and then said: "Mother of the Believers! Congratulations to you, by Allah! Now, between you and every kind of pain and hardship, and between you and meeting Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and his company, there is only the delay of your soul departing from your body." She said: "Yes, that is correct, and what else?" Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) loved you the most among all his wives, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to like only what was good, and Allah Almighty revealed the command of your exoneration from above the seven heavens." In another narration, it is added that this command was brought by Jibreel (peace be upon him). In every mosque on the face of the earth, day and night, these verses of exoneration are recited, and when your necklace fell at the place of Abwa, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the noble Companions stayed there searching for it until morning came and the people had no water for ablution. So Allah Almighty revealed: {فَتَیَمَّمُوا صَعِیدًا طَیِّبًا … } (Surah Al-Ma'idah: 6), commanding that if you do not find water, then perform tayammum with clean earth; because of this incident of yours, this concession was granted to all people. By Allah, you are extremely blessed. Hearing these words, Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Ibn Abbas! Leave these matters, I would prefer to be completely forgotten."

Hadith 11445
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said to Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): You have been called the Mother of the Believers merely to express your excellence, otherwise, even before your birth, this honor was destined for you (by Allah Almighty). Urwah bin Zubair states that Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) passed away at night, and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) buried her that very night.
