بَابُ وَمِنْ بَرَكَتِهَا نُزُولُ رُحْصَةِ التَّیَمُمِ بِسَبَبِهَا
Chapter on Among Her Blessings Is the Revelation of the Concession of Tayammum Because of Her
Hadith 11435
عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّهَا اسْتَعَارَتْ مِنْ أَسْمَاءَ قِلَادَةً فَهَلَكَتْ فَبَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ رِجَالًا فِي طَلَبِهَا فَوَجَدُوهَا فَأَدْرَكَتْهُمُ الصَّلَاةُ وَلَيْسَ مَعَهُمْ مَاءٌ فَصَلَّوْا بِغَيْرِ وُضُوءٍ فَشَكَوْا ذَلِكَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ التَّيَمُّمَ فَقَالَ أُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرٍ لِعَائِشَةَ جَزَاكِ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا فَوَاللَّهِ مَا نَزَلَ بِكِ أَمْرٌ تَكْرَهِينَهُ إِلَّا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لَكِ وَلِلْمُسْلِمِينَ فِيهِ خَيْرًا
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she borrowed a necklace from Sayyida Asma (may Allah be pleased with her), but it was lost. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent some people to search for it. They found it, but the time for prayer came upon them while they had no water. So they performed the prayer without ablution and complained about this to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then Allah Almighty revealed the concession of tayammum. Sayyiduna Usayd bin Hudayr (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): May Allah reward you with goodness. Whenever any matter arises with you which you dislike, Allah makes it a source of goodness and blessing for you and for the Muslims.
Hadith 11436
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ أَقْبَلْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ حَتَّى إِذَا كُنَّا بِتُرْبَانَ بَلَدٍ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْمَدِينَةِ بَرِيدٌ وَأَمْيَالٌ وَهُوَ بَلَدٌ لَا مَاءَ بِهِ وَذَلِكَ مِنَ السَّحَرِ انْسَلَّتْ قِلَادَةٌ لِي مِنْ عُنُقِي فَوَقَعَتْ فَحُبِسَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِالْتِمَاسِهَا حَتَّى طَلَعَ الْفَجْرُ وَلَيْسَ مَعَ الْقَوْمِ مَاءٌ قَالَتْ فَلَقِيتُ مِنْ أَبِي مَا اللَّهُ بِهِ عَلِيمٌ مِنَ التَّعْنِيفِ وَالتَّأْفِيفِ وَقَالَ فِي كُلِّ سَفَرٍ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ مِنْكِ عَنَاءٌ وَبَلَاءٌ قَالَتْ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ الرُّخْصَةَ بِالتَّيَمُّمِ قَالَتْ فَتَيَمَّمَ الْقَوْمُ وَصَلَّوْا قَالَتْ يَقُولُ أَبِي حِينَ جَاءَ مِنَ اللَّهِ مَا جَاءَ مِنَ الرُّخْصَةِ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ وَاللَّهِ مَا عَلِمْتُ يَا بُنَيَّةُ إِنَّكِ لَمُبَارَكَةٌ مَاذَا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ فِي حَبْسِكِ إِيَّاهُمْ مِنَ الْبَرَكَةِ وَالْيُسْرِ
The wife of the Prophet, Mother of the Believers, Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that we were returning from a journey with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When we reached a place a few miles from Madinah Munawwarah at the time of suhoor, where there was no sign of water, my necklace slipped from my neck and fell. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had to stop to search for it until dawn broke, and no one had any water. Allah knows best how much scolding I received from my father on that occasion. He also said that in every journey, because of you, the Muslims have to face difficulty and hardship. The Mother of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that at that moment, Allah revealed the concession of tayammum. And the people performed tayammum and offered prayer. When this concession from Allah came for the Muslims, my father said: Daughter! By Allah! I did not know that you were so blessed. Because of the Muslims being stopped here in search of your necklace, what blessing and ease Allah has placed for them!
