One day Muhammad bin Qais said: Shall I not narrate to you a hadith from myself and my mother? We thought that he meant his real mother, then he said: Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Shall I not narrate to you an incident of myself and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? I said: Yes, why not. Then she said: When it was my night and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was with me, after ‘Isha he returned, placed his cloak, took off his shoes and put them at the foot of the bed, spread a part of his cloak on the bed and lay down. He (peace and blessings be upon him) lay for a while, (as I thought) when he (peace and blessings be upon him) thought that I had fallen asleep, he (peace and blessings be upon him) quietly picked up his cloak, gently put on his shoes, opened the door and went out and softly closed it. Meanwhile, I also arranged my scarf, put it on my head, wrapped myself in my cloak, put on my trousers and followed behind him. I saw that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had reached the Baqi’ graveyard, stood there for a long time and raised his hands in supplication three times. Afterwards, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned and I also started to return. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) walked quickly, so I also quickened my pace. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ran a little, I also started running. Then when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) increased his speed, I also increased mine and overtook him and reached home. I had just lain down when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also arrived and said: Aisha! What is the matter, your breath is heavy, your stomach is heaving? I said: O Messenger of Allah! Nothing is the matter. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You yourself tell me, otherwise the All-Seeing and All-Knowing Lord will inform me. I said: O Messenger of Allah! May my parents be sacrificed for you, then I narrated the whole incident to you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The dark figure I saw before me, was that you? I said: Yes. Hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) struck me on my back, which caused me pain, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Did you think that Allah and His Messenger would wrong you? Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: People may hide as much as they want, but Allah Almighty knows it anyway. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes, the matter was that when you saw me, at that time Jibreel (peace be upon him) came and called me and kept his voice hidden from you, I also replied to him keeping my voice hidden from you. He could not come to you at that time because you had removed your clothes, and I thought you had fallen asleep and it was not appropriate to wake you, lest you be disturbed alone. Jibreel (peace be upon him) said to me: Your Lord commands you to go to the people of Baqi’ and pray for their forgiveness (that is why I went). Then Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I asked: O Messenger of Allah! How should I pray? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You should say: "As-salamu ‘ala ahl ad-diyari min al-mu’minina wa’l-muslimin wa yarhamullahu al-mustaqdimina minna wa’l-musta’khirin, wa inna in sha’ Allahu la lahiqun." (Peace be upon the inhabitants of these dwellings, the believers and the Muslims, and may Allah have mercy on those who have gone before us and those who come later, and indeed, if Allah wills, we shall join you.)
Hadith 11431
Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that I used to perform a (supererogatory) prayer during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Now, even if my father were to rise from his grave and come to forbid me from it, I would not abandon this prayer.
