Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has granted me a son tonight, and I have named him after my father, Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entrusted him for nursing to the wife of a blacksmith of Madinah, Sayyiduna Abu Saif (may Allah be pleased with him), Lady Umm Saif (may Allah be pleased with her). Once, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went walking to see him, and I also went with him. When I arrived there, Abu Saif was blowing into his furnace and the room was filled with smoke. I hurried ahead of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said to him: Abu Saif! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has arrived. So he stopped his work. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered. He called for the child and held him to his chest. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I saw him in front of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in such a state that he was surrendering his soul to Allah. Seeing this scene, tears came to the eyes of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The eye is shedding tears, and the heart is grieved, but we will only say that which pleases Allah Almighty, and O Ibrahim, we are greatly saddened by your separation.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I have not found anyone more kind to his family than the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The son of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Ibrahim (may Allah be pleased with him), had been sent to the upper suburbs of Madinah for nursing. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to go to see him, and we would also be with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would enter their house, even though there would be smoke rising in the house, because his foster father was a blacksmith. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would pick up Sayyiduna Ibrahim (may Allah be pleased with him), kiss him, and then return. The narrator Amr says: When Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) passed away, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, Ibrahim is my son. Since he passed away during the period of nursing, he will have two foster mothers in Paradise who will complete his nursing.
