It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was the most handsome and beautiful, the most generous, and the bravest of all people. One night, the people of Madinah became frightened and alarmed due to some reason. People set out in the direction from which the sound had come to find out what had happened, but what did they see? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was returning from that direction. He (peace and blessings be upon him) was riding the horse of Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him), which was bareback, without a saddle. He (peace and blessings be upon him) had gone to investigate the source of the sound, and there was a sword hanging around his neck. He was loudly saying to the people: "Do not be afraid, do not be afraid." And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said about the horse: "We found it to be like the sea." Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Before this, the horse was extremely slow, but after that, it was never left behind by other horses.

It is narrated from Abu Ishaq, he says: I heard Bara bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him), when a man from Banu Qais asked him, "Did you people flee and leave the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at the time of the Battle of Hunayn?" He replied, "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not flee; in fact, Banu Hawazin were expert archers. When we attacked them, they scattered. We began collecting the spoils of war, and they confronted us with arrows. I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) riding his white mule, and Abu Sufyan bin Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) was holding its reins, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was reciting this rajaz: 'I am the Prophet, there is no lie; I am the son of Abdul Muttalib.'"

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that on the day of the Battle of Badr, when the battle was raging, we began seeking refuge through the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) was the strongest and bravest of all, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was the closest to the polytheists.

Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Quraysh sent me to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When I saw him, love for Islam was instilled in my heart. I said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! By Allah, I will never return to them. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I do not break covenants, nor do I detain messengers. You should return, and if you still have the same desire (for accepting Islam) in your heart as you do now, then come back.
