Hadith 11201
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ جَاءَ الطُّفَيْلُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الدَّوْسِيُّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ دَوْسًا قَدْ عَصَتْ وَأَبَتْ فَادْعُ اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَاسْتَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْقِبْلَةَ وَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ فَقَالَ النَّاسُ هَلَكُوا فَقَالَ ”اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِ دَوْسًا وَائْتِ بِهِمْ اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِ دَوْسًا وَائْتِ بِهِمْ“
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Tufail bin Amr Dosi came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "The tribe of Daws is disobedient to Allah and they have refused to accept the call to truth. O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), pray against them." But the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) turned his face towards the Qiblah and raised both hands and began to supplicate. The people thought that now the tribe of Daws would be destroyed (as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was about to pray against them). But the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed: "O Allah! Grant guidance to the tribe of Daws, and bring them to us as obedient ones. O Allah! Grant guidance to the tribe of Daws, and bring them to us as obedient ones."
Hadith 11202
عَنْ بَهْزِ بْنِ حَكِيمِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ أَخَذَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَاسًا مِنْ قَوْمِي فِي تُهْمَةٍ فَحَبَسَهُمْ فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ قَوْمِي إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ عَلَامَ تَحْبِسُ جِيرَتِي فَصَمَتَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ إِنَّ نَاسًا لَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّكَ تَنْهَى عَنِ الشَّرِّ وَتَسْتَخْلِي بِهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”مَا يَقُولُ؟“ قَالَ فَجَعَلْتُ أُعَرِّضُ بَيْنَهُمَا بِالْكَلَامِ مَخَافَةَ أَنْ يَسْمَعَهَا فَيَدْعُوَ عَلَى قَوْمِي دَعْوَةً لَا يُفْلِحُونَ بَعْدَهَا أَبَدًا فَلَمْ يَزَلِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِهِ حَتَّى فَهِمَهَا فَقَالَ قَدْ قَالُوهَا أَوْ قَائِلُهَا مِنْهُمْ وَاللَّهِ لَوْ فَعَلْتُ لَكَانَ عَلَيَّ وَمَا كَانَ عَلَيْهِمْ خَلُّوا لَهُ عَنْ جِيرَانِهِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Haydah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had some people from our tribe arrested and imprisoned on the charge of accusation. Then a man from our tribe came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was delivering a sermon. He said: O Muhammad! Why have you imprisoned my neighbors? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent with him. He said again: People say that you forbid evil, while you are spreading evil. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: What is he saying? Sayyiduna Muawiyah says: I did not let the matter between the two become clear, fearing that perhaps the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) might hear his words and curse my tribe, and then my tribe would never attain such-and-such. But the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept engaging with him until he understood him. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Did these people really say this accusatory thing? By Allah! If I do the act which I have forbidden, then its burden will be upon me. Release his neighbors.
Hadith 11203
حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا إِسْرَائِيلَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَعْدَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَرَأَى رَجُلًا سَمِينًا فَجَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُومِئُ إِلَى بَطْنِهِ بِيَدِهِ وَيَقُولُ ”لَوْ كَانَ هَذَا فِي غَيْرِ هَذَا الْمَكَانِ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَكَ“ قَالَ وَأُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِرَجُلٍ فَقَالُوا هَذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَقْتُلَكَ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”لَمْ تُرَعْ لَمْ تُرَعْ وَلَوْ أَرَدْتَ ذَلِكَ لَمْ يُسَلِّطْكَ اللَّهُ عَلَيَّ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ja’dah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) saw a fat man, so he pointed towards his belly with his hand and said: If this fatness had been in another part of your body instead of your belly, it would have been better for you. Ja’dah says: A man was brought to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and it was told to him that this man had intended to kill you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said to him: Do not be afraid, do not be frightened. If you had planned to kill me, then Allah Almighty did not give you power over me.
Hadith 11204
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْرَائِيلَ فِي بَيْتِ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَعْدَةَ وَهُوَ مَوْلَى أَبِي إِسْرَائِيلَ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَرَجُلٌ يَقُصُّ عَلَيْهِ رُؤْيَا وَذَكَرَ سِمَنَهُ وَعِظَمَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”لَوْ كَانَ هَذَا فِي غَيْرِ هَذَا كَانَ خَيْرًا لَكَ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ja'dah that I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and a man who was relating his dream to him, and the narrator described his obesity. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him: If this had been in something other than this, it would have been better for you.
Hadith 11205
حَدَّثَنِي سِنَانُ بْنُ أَبِي سِنَانٍ الدُّؤَلِيُّ وَأَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْبَرَ أَنَّهُ غَزَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَزْوَةً قِبَلَ نَجْدٍ فَلَمَّا قَفَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَفَلَ مَعَهُمْ فَأَدْرَكَتْهُمُ الْقَائِلَةُ يَوْمًا فِي وَادٍ كَثِيرِ الْعِضَاهِ فَنَزَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَتَفَرَّقَ النَّاسُ فِي الْعِضَاهِ يَسْتَظِلُّونَ بِالشَّجَرِ وَنَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْتَظِلُّ تَحْتَ شَجَرَةٍ فَعَلَّقَ بِهَا سَيْفَهُ قَالَ جَابِرٌ فَنِمْنَا بِهَا نَوْمَةً ثُمَّ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدْعُونَا فَأَتَيْنَاهُ فَإِذَا عِنْدَهُ أَعْرَابِيٌّ جَالِسٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”إِنَّ هَذَا اخْتَرَطَ سَيْفَهُ وَأَنَا نَائِمٌ فَاسْتَيْقَظْتُ وَهُوَ فِي يَدِهِ صَلْتًا فَقَالَ مَنْ يَمْنَعُكَ مِنِّي فَقُلْتُ اللَّهُ فَقَالَ مَنْ يَمْنَعُكَ مِنِّي فَقُلْتُ اللَّهُ“ فَشَامَ السَّيْفَ وَجَلَسَ فَلَمْ يُعَاقِبْهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَدْ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he participated in a military expedition towards Najd in the company of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from the expedition, Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) also returned with the people. On the way back, during the journey, the caravan stopped in a valley where there were many thorny trees. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) dismounted at one place, and the people scattered here and there in search of shade under the thorny trees. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) also stayed in the shade under a tree and hung his sword on the tree. Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We went to our places and fell asleep. Meanwhile, we heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) calling us. When we came near him, we saw that a Bedouin was sitting with him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I was asleep, and he came and drew my sword. When I woke up, the sword was in his hand, brandished. He said, "Who will save you from me?" I replied, "Allah will save me from your evil." He asked again, "Who will save you from me?" I said, "Allah, the Exalted." He then put the sword back in its sheath and sat down. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not say anything to him, even though he had done such a great act.
Hadith 11206
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ لَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاحِشًا وَلَا مُتَفَحِّشًا وَلَا صَخَّابًا فِي الْأَسْوَاقِ وَلَا يَجْزِي بِالسَّيِّئَةِ مِثْلَهَا وَلَكِنْ يَعْفُو وَيَصْفَحُ
Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was neither habitually nor deliberately foul-mouthed, nor did he speak loudly in the markets, nor did he repay evil with evil, but rather he would forgive and overlook.
Hadith 11207
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَشَدَّ حَيَاءً مِنَ الْعَذْرَاءِ فِي خِدْرِهَا وَكَانَ إِذَا كَرِهَ شَيْئًا عَرَفْنَاهُ فِي وَجْهِهِ
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was more modest than a veiled virgin girl, and when something displeased him, we would recognize it from his blessed face.
