Hadith 11185
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man addressed the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O our master! And O son of our master! O the one who is the best among us and the offspring of the most excellent among us. But when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard this, he said: O people! Say what is known (i.e., appropriate), and never let Satan lead you into exaggeration. I am Muhammad, son of Abdullah, and the Messenger of Allah. By Allah! I do not like that you raise me above the rank which Allah, the Exalted, has given me.
Hadith 11186
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not exaggerate in praising me as the Christians exaggerated regarding Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him). I am merely Allah's servant and His Messenger.
Hadith 11187
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Jibreel (peace be upon him) was sitting with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when he looked towards the sky, and suddenly a certain angel was descending from above. Jibreel (peace be upon him) said to him (peace and blessings be upon him): This angel, since the time he was created, has never come down to the earth until now. When he came, he said: O Muhammad! Your Lord has sent me to you with this message: He will make you a king or a servant and Messenger? Jibreel (peace be upon him) said to you (peace and blessings be upon him): O Muhammad! (peace and blessings be upon him) Show humility to your Lord. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I wish to be Allah’s servant and Messenger.
Hadith 11188
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that (the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was so humble that) a slave girl from Madinah would come and take the hand of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and lead him away for any task she needed (and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would go with her without any hesitation).
Hadith 11189
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that on one of the streets of Madinah Munawwarah, a woman met the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I have something to ask of you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O mother of so-and-so! Sit in whichever street or path of Madinah you wish, I will also sit with you. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that she sat down and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) also sat with her, until her need was fulfilled.
Hadith 11190
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that after performing Tawaf, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the place where Zamzam water was being served and said: "Give me some to drink." They said: "People keep affecting this water; we will bring (clean) water for you from the house." But the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no need for that; give me to drink from the same place where people are drinking."
Hadith 11191
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that in the marketplace of Madinah, a Jew said: "By the One Who gave Musa superiority over all mankind." Upon hearing these words, an Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), out of zeal, slapped him and said: "How dare you say this while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is present among us?" That Jew went to complain to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse in response: {وَنُفِخَ فِی الصُّورِ فَصَعِقَ مَنْ فِی السَّمٰوَاتِ وَمَنْ فِی الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا مَنْ شَآئَ اللّٰہُ ثُمَّ نُفِخَ فِیہِ أُخْرٰی فَإِذَا ہُمْ قِیَامٌیَنْظُرُونَ} … And when the Trumpet will be blown for the first time, the creatures of the heavens will fall unconscious except those whom Allah wills. Then it will be blown again, and all will rise up, looking on. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: At that time, I will be the first to regain consciousness and raise my head, but I will see that Musa (peace be upon him) is standing, holding one of the pillars of the Throne. I will not know whether he regained consciousness before me or whether he is among those who were exempted from falling unconscious. And (remember that) whoever says that I (Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him) am superior to Yunus bin Matta, he has spoken incorrectly.
Hadith 11192
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by Baqi’ al-Gharqad on a very hot day, and people were walking behind him. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard the sound of the people’s shoes, it was burdensome for him, so he sat down right there until the people passed ahead of him, so that no pride would arise in his heart (because people were walking behind him). When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by Baqi’ al-Gharqad, he saw two graves; people had buried two men in them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stopped there and asked: “Who have you buried here today?” The Companions replied: “O Messenger of Allah! These are such-and-such two men.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “They are being punished in their graves right now.” The Companions asked: “O Messenger of Allah! What is the reason for their punishment?” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “One of them did not protect himself from urine, and the other used to carry tales (gossip).” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took a fresh twig, split it, and placed it on both graves. The Companions asked: “O Messenger of Allah! Why did you do this?” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Because of this, their punishment will be lightened.” The Companions said: “O Messenger of Allah! For how long will Allah punish them?” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “This is a matter of the unseen, which no one knows except Allah.” Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “If the changing states of your hearts or excessive speech did not occur, you would also hear what I hear.”
Hadith 11193
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out to go somewhere, the Companions would walk ahead of him and would leave his back for the angels.
Hadith 11194
It is narrated from Urwah bin Zubair that Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) was asked: What kind of work did the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) do when he came home? (That is, what was his occupation at home?) She said: (When the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, came home, he used to do the same kind of work) as you do, for example, he would mend his own shoes and sew his own clothes.
Hadith 11195
(Second chain) It is narrated from Urwah that a person asked Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) whether Allah's Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do any work at home. She said: Yes, he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to mend his own shoes, sew his own clothes, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to work in his house just as any one of you works in his own house.
Hadith 11196
It is narrated from Qasim that Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) was asked: What was the occupation of Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) at home? She replied: He was also a human being, so (like other people) he would inspect his clothes for lice, milk the goat, and do his own work.
Hadith 11197
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Jew invited the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to a meal of barley bread and a dish with a strong smell. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted his invitation. The narrator of the hadith, Aban, mentioned on one occasion that the person who invited was a tailor.
Hadith 11198
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) went to Yemen or Syria and saw that the Christians prostrate to their leaders and priests. He thought in his heart that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is more deserving of such reverence. Then when he returned, he said: O Messenger of Allah! I saw the Christians prostrating to their leaders and priests, and it occurred to me in my heart that you are more deserving of this reverence. But the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If I were to command anyone to prostrate to anyone other than Allah Almighty, I would have commanded a woman to prostrate to her husband. A wife cannot fulfill the rights of Allah Almighty until she fulfills the rights of her husband as they are due. If the husband calls his wife for marital relations and she is sitting on a saddle, she must fulfill her husband's request.
Hadith 11199
Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila narrates from his father that Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) stated that he went to the land of Sham (Greater Syria). (From here onwards, it is like the previous hadith.) He said, "I asked them, 'Why do you prostrate to your leaders?'" They replied, "In the laws of the prophets before us, this was the way of greeting." So I said, "(If that is the case,) then we are more deserving to do this with our Prophet." Upon hearing this, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Just as those people altered their religious books, they also lied about their prophets. Indeed, Allah Almighty has given us a better greeting than theirs, the greeting of the people of Paradise."
Hadith 11200
It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Ubādah bin Sāmit (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us, so Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Stand with us so that we may seek the help of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding this hypocrite. Upon hearing this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: My intention is not sought for help; the intention is made for Allah Almighty.
