Chapter on His ﷺ Parable Among the Prophets and That He Is Their Seal
5 hadith
Hadith 11115
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ubayy ibn Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Among the Prophets, my example is like that of a man who built a most beautiful and complete house, but left the place of only one brick empty. People would walk around that house, express their amazement, and say: If only the place of that brick were also filled! Thus, in the structure of Prophethood, I am the one who fills that empty place of the brick.
Hadith 11116
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated a similar hadith of the Prophet, except that it contains these additional words: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have come in the place of that brick, and by my coming, I have completed the succession of the Prophets.
Hadith 11117
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The example of me and the other prophets is like that of a man who lit a fire, and moths and butterflies began to fall into the fire, and he started to drive them away. Thus, I am trying to save you from the fire by grabbing you by your waists, but you slip away from my hand and rush into the fire.
Hadith 11118
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: The food of two people is enough for three, and the food of three people is enough for four. My example and the example of people is like that of a man who kindles a fire; when the fire becomes bright, moths and butterflies begin to fall into it. I also try to save you from the fire by grabbing you by your waists, but you keep slipping away and rushing into the fire. The example of the Prophets is like that of a person who built a complete and beautiful house; people walk around it and say, "We have never seen a house more beautiful than this." There is only a small deficiency in it, so I am the one who completes that deficiency.
Hadith 11119
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The chain of Messengership and Prophethood has been discontinued; there will be no Messenger or Prophet after me. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, says that this was hard for the people to bear, so the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: (The chain of Prophethood and Messengership has indeed ended) however, the series of glad tidings remains. The Companions asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by glad tidings? He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The dream of a Muslim man, which is one part of the parts of Prophethood.
