Hadith 11054
It is narrated from Ibn Jurayj, who says: My father informed me that the companions of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not understand where they should bury the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), until Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say that a prophet is buried at the place where he passes away. Thus, the bed of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was removed and the place beneath it was dug for the grave.
Hadith 11055
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, there was one man in Madinah Munawwarah who would make a lahd (niche) grave and another who would make a box-shaped (shaqq) grave. The noble Companions consulted and decided that they would seek guidance (istikhara) from Allah Almighty regarding this matter, and they would send a message to both of them and call them. Whichever one arrived later, they would let him be. So, a message was sent to both, and the one who made the lahd grave arrived first. Thus, they prepared a lahd (niche) grave for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that we did not know about the burial of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) until we heard the sounds of picks at night on Wednesday. The author of Maghazi, Muhammad bin Ishaq, has stated that this hadith was narrated to me by Fatimah bint Muhammad, the wife of Abdullah bin Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a red-colored sheet was placed inside the grave of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Do not make my grave a festival, and do not make your homes graveyards, and wherever you are, send blessings upon me, for indeed your blessings reach me.
Hadith 11061
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the day Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, everything in Madinah became illuminated. But the day he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, darkness covered everything in Madinah Munawwarah. And we had not yet finished with his (peace and blessings be upon him) burial when we felt a change in our hearts.
Hadith 11062
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: When we returned after burying the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Anas! How did your hearts allow you to return after burying the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the earth? (11062). In order to bury that pure body, it was necessary to put soil, but Sayyidah was merely expressing the greatness of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and her own grief. Outwardly, Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) remained silent, but with the language of his state, he was saying that putting this soil was not acceptable to us either, but what could we do, after all, this was the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
