Hadith 11045
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) stated: When the family intended to bathe the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), they disagreed among themselves. They said: By Allah, we do not know what to do. Should we undress the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) as we undress our dead men, or should we bathe him with his clothes on? Sayyidah (may Allah be pleased with her) stated: When they disagreed on this matter, Allah Almighty caused drowsiness to overcome all of them, so much so that in their sleep, all their chins rested upon their chests. Then, from a corner of the house, someone spoke to them, and they could not tell who it was. He said: Bathe the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with his clothes on. They quickly went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and bathed him with his shirt on, pouring water and lotus leaves over it, and the men would rub his body over the shirt. Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) used to say: If I had known then what I learned later, only the wives of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would have bathed him.
Hadith 11046
It is narrated from Ja'far bin Muhammad that when the noble Companions gave Ghusl (ritual bath) to the Prophet ﷺ, the water from the Prophet’s ﷺ Ghusl was collected in his ﷺ vessels, and Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) would drink it sip by sip.
