Hadith 11037
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, some of the Companions were so deeply affected that some of them were close to losing their senses. Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I was also among such people. I was sitting in the shade of a house when Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by me. He greeted me with salam, but I was not even aware that he had passed by or greeted me. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) went and complained to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: Is it not astonishing to you that I passed by Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), greeted him with salam, but he did not even reply to my salam? Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) had already been chosen as the Caliph. Both of them came to me, greeted me with salam, and then Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Your brother Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) has come to me and complained that he passed by you and greeted you with salam, but you did not reply to his salam. What was the reason for this? I replied: I did not do such a thing. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Why not? By Allah! I greeted you with salam and you did not reply. O Banu Umayyah! This is your arrogant habit. I replied: By Allah! I was not even aware that you had passed by me or greeted me. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) is telling the truth. You were grieving over the separation from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so you could not pay attention. I also said: Yes, that is how it was. They said: What? Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Allah Almighty gave death to His Prophet, and we did not even get to ask him how salvation from Allah’s punishment will be on the Day of Judgment. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I have already asked him (peace and blessings be upon him) about this. So I got up and went to him and said: May my parents be sacrificed for you! Indeed, you were more deserving to ask about this matter. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I had asked: O Messenger of Allah! How will salvation from Allah’s punishment be on the Day of Judgment? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The word of Islam which I presented to my uncle, but he did not accept it—whoever accepts this word from me, that is, affirms it sincerely in his heart, then this very word (of Tawheed) will be the means of his salvation.
Hadith 11038
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that upon the passing of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyida Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her) was weeping and saying: O my dear father! How close you have come to your Lord, O my dear father! I will inform Jibreel of your death, O my dear father! Paradise al-Firdaws is your abode.
Hadith 11039
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) passed away, Sayyida Umm Ayman (may Allah be pleased with her) began to weep. She was asked, "Why are you weeping over the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family)?" She replied: "I already knew that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) would soon pass away, but I am weeping because now the series of revelation has been discontinued."
Hadith 11040
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away between my neck and chest, on the day it was my turn. On that day, I did not wrong anyone in any way; it was my ignorance and youth that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away in my lap. Then I placed his blessed head on a pillow and joined the women in weeping and began striking my face with my hands.
Hadith 11041
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that after the passing of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came to him and placed his face between the two eyes of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his hands on the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) temples and said: Alas, my Prophet! Alas, my beloved friend! Alas, the chosen Prophet of Allah.
Hadith 11042
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that (after the passing of the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him) Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came to her and went straight to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). A striped sheet had been placed over the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He removed the cloth from the radiant face of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), leaned over him, kissed him, and began to weep. Then he said: "May my father and mother be sacrificed for you (peace and blessings be upon you)! By Allah, Allah will never combine two deaths upon you (peace and blessings be upon you). The first death that was destined for you (peace and blessings be upon you) has already come upon you."
Hadith 11043
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) used to narrate that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) entered the mosque, where Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was engaged in conversation with the people. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) kept walking forward until he entered the house of Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), where the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had passed away. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had been covered with a striped sheet. He removed the cloth from the blessed face of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), looked towards the face of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), bent down to kiss him, and then said: By Allah! Allah will not combine two deaths upon you (O Messenger of Allah). The death that was decreed for you has come upon you, after which there will be no death upon you.
