It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said on the occasion of the Battle of Hunayn: Whoever kills a man single-handedly, then the spoils taken from him will belong to that person. On that day, Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) brought the spoils of twenty-one individuals.

(Second chain) On the occasion of the Battle of Hunayn, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever kills a disbeliever, his spoils will belong to him. Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) killed twenty disbelievers.
Hadith 10908
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the Battle of Hunayn, Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I struck the neck of a disbeliever and killed him. He was wearing a coat of mail, but I could not remove it. Please see who has taken off that coat of mail (as it was my right). A man said: The coat of mail is with me, but O Messenger of Allah! Please make him (Abu Qatadah) content regarding this coat of mail and let it remain with me. The blessed habit of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was that when something was asked from him, he would give it or remain silent. Upon hearing this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent, but Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By Allah! This will not happen that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) takes this coat of mail from one of Allah’s lions and gives it to you. Upon hearing this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled and said: Umar has spoken the truth. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: On that day, Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) had a dagger in her hand. Her husband, Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him), asked: What is this with you? She replied that I have kept it with me so that if any polytheist comes near me, I will rip open his belly with it. Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! Are you hearing what Umm Sulaym is saying? At that moment, Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Messenger of Allah! Kill those freed captives who stayed behind and were defeated with you. But the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Umm Sulaym! Allah Almighty has helped us, and what a wonderful help it was.
