بَابُ مَنْ رَوى أَنَّ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم لَمْ يُصَلُّ دَاخِلَ الْكَعْبَةِ باب مَنْ رَوَى أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى فِيهَا
Chapter on Those Who Narrated That the Prophet ﷺ Did Not Pray Inside the Ka‘bah, and Those Who Narrated That He ﷺ Prayed in It
Hadith 10862
Under this chapter, the following sub-chapters and hadiths have been mentioned.
عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ أَسَمِعْتَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ إِنَّمَا أُمِرْتُمْ بِالطَّوَافِ وَلَمْ تُؤْمَرُوا بِالدُّخُولِ قَالَ لَمْ يَكُنْ يَنْهَى عَنْ دُخُولِهِ وَلَكِنِّي سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ أَخْبَرَنِي أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا دَخَلَ الْبَيْتَ دَعَا فِي نَوَاحِيهِ كُلِّهَا وَلَمْ يُصَلِّ فِيهِ حَتَّى خَرَجَ فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ رَكَعَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فِي قِبَلِ الْكَعْبَةِ قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ وَقَالَ هَذِهِ الْقِبْلَةُ
It is narrated from Ibn Jurayj, he says: I asked Ata whether he had heard Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) say that you have been commanded to perform Tawaf of the House of Allah, but you have not been commanded to enter it? Ata replied that Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) did not prevent anyone from entering the House of Allah, but I heard him say that Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the House of Allah, he supplicated in all its corners and did not perform prayer inside it, until he came out. Then, after coming out, he performed two rak'ahs directly in front of the Ka'bah and said: This is the Qiblah.
Hadith 10863
عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَ عَنْ بِلَالٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى فِي الْبَيْتِ قَالَ وَكَانَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ لَمْ يُصَلِّ فِيهِ وَلَكِنْ كَبَّرَ فِي نَوَاحِيهِ
It is narrated from Amr bin Dinar that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported from Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed prayer inside the House of Allah (the Ka'bah). Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) also said that Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not perform prayer inside the House of Allah, but rather proclaimed the greatness of Allah (takbeer) in all its corners.
Hadith 10864
عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَامَ فِي الْكَعْبَةِ فَسَبَّحَ وَكَبَّرَ وَدَعَا اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَاسْتَغْفَرَ وَلَمْ يَرْكَعْ وَلَمْ يَسْجُدْ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Fadl bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood inside the Ka'bah and proclaimed the glorification and greatness of Allah, supplicated to Allah Almighty, sought forgiveness, and did not perform bowing (ruku') or prostration (sujud).
Hadith 10865
(وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا) أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا دَخَلَهَا وَقَعَ سَاجِدًا بَيْنَ الْعَمُودَيْنِ ثُمَّ جَلَسَ يَدْعُو
It is also narrated from Fadl bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, that when the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, entered the Ka'bah, he fell into prostration between two pillars, then sat and supplicated.
Hadith 10866
(وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا) أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْبَيْتَ وَأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يُصَلِّ فِي الْبَيْتِ حِينَ دَخَلَهُ وَلَكِنَّهُ لَمَّا خَرَجَ فَنَزَلَ رَكَعَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ عِنْدَ بَابِ الْبَيْتِ
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) that he entered the House of Allah (the Ka'bah) with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not perform prayer inside after entering. However, when he came out, he descended from the door of the House of Allah and performed two rak'ahs near the door.
Hadith 10867
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْكَعْبَةَ وَفِيهَا سِتُّ سَوَارٍ فَقَامَ عِنْدَ كُلِّ سَارِيَةٍ وَلَمْ يُصَلِّ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the Ka'bah. There were six pillars inside it. He went to each pillar and stood by it, but did not perform prayer.
Hadith 10868
(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يُصَلِّ فِيهِ يَعْنِي الْبَيْتَ وَلَكِنَّهُ اسْتَقْبَلَ زَوَايَاهُ
(Second chain) The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, did not perform prayer inside the House of Allah; however, he did turn towards every corner of it.
Hadith 10869
(وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا) حَدَّثَنِي أَخِي الْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ وَكَانَ مَعَهُ حِينَ دَخَلَهَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَمْ يُصَلِّ فِي الْكَعْبَةِ وَلَكِنَّهُ لَمَّا دَخَلَهَا وَقَعَ سَاجِدًا بَيْنَ الْعَمُودَيْنِ ثُمَّ جَلَسَ يَدْعُو
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the House of Allah (the Ka'bah), my brother Sayyiduna Fadl bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) was also with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not perform prayer inside the Ka'bah. However, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered, he prostrated between two pillars, and then sat and supplicated.
